"Quote 1: I'll Bring The Stereo"

[Mike Evin] has taken the idea that 'there's nothing new in music' and made a mockery of it. In short, he has created an album that cannot be
defined. - Niagara Tribune

"Quote 2: I'll Bring The Stereo"

Mike Evin is a rarity - a pop composer who isn't afraid to use his wit or to wear his heart for all to hear.
- CBC Radio

"Quote 3: I'll Bring The Stereo"

...like a hammer hitting squarely on the nail every time,
he hits a vein with every song on this eleven-track gem. - CD Baby Editor's Pick

"Quote 4: I'll Bring The Stereo"

It's refreshing to hear a young pianist with so much power-pop punch and such a great ear for arrangements. - Eye Weekly

"Quote 5: I'll Bring The Stereo"

...smart, sardonic tunes that poke, prod and playfully skewer
the absurd details of daily life with a stubborn sense of
exasperation and joy. - Xpress Weekly

"Quote 6: I'll Bring The Stereo"

His knack for story-telling and melodies can almost compete with
his ease at the keys, almost. - Scene Weekly

"Quote 7: I'll Bring The Stereo"

Mike Evin reimagined the piano-pop songbook. - Indy Weekly

"Quote 8: Let's Slow It Down"

Evin follows 2004’s I'LL BRING THE STEREO, a stylistic patchwork of a record laden with bells and whistles (and snarky tunes like “Stripper in My Car”), with the far more sleek and focused new mini-album LET'S SLOW IT DOWN, a slightly country-tinged
six-pack of meditations on domestic bliss. - Montreal Mirror

"Quote 9: Let's Slow It Down"

...feel-good pop tunes that not enough people know about. - Now Weekly

"Quote 10: Let's Slow It Down"

...simple, sweet songs that drill to the core of domestic bliss. - The Coast

Bio

Montreal pianist and singer/songwriter Mike Evin has shared festival, concert and CBC stages with Ron Sexsmith, Sarah Harmer, Amy Millan, Jill Barber, Serena Ryder and Martha Wainwright. He’s taped numerous concerts for CBC Radio and has performed at the Ottawa Folk Festival, Summerfolk, Northern Lights Boreal Festival, Pop Montreal, NXNE, and Halifax Pop Explosion. He’s also toured the eastern US with his 64-key upright piano, making a splash in Nashville.

Mike’s previous albums have been collaborations with members of Canadian music royalty. His 2005 release, "I’ll Bring The Stereo", was produced by The Brothers Creeggan (Barenaked Ladies) and features most of the members of BNL. 2007’s EP "Let’s Slow It Down" was produced by Don Kerr (The Rheostatics, Ron Sexsmith) and is held down by Ron Sexsmith’s touring band. Mike’s song ‘Soapbox Racer’ was featured in an ad campaign for Red Bull.

In early 2009 Mike heads off to the Caribbean to join Barenaked Ladies, Sloan, Great Big Sea and The Weakerthans aboard Ships & Dip V, BNL’s annual concert cruise with their fans. In April Mike will release "Good Watermelon", and raw new recording captured live in the studio straight to 2-track analog tape. Spring and summer tour dates will follow in support of "Good Watermelon". Mike urges everyone to get rockin’!

THE WORLD OF WORKSHOPS
Mike picks up tunes pretty quick on the piano and is a swell fellow to have around a festival workshop stage. Some workshop options are: Piano songs, Great pop songs, New Orleans blues, Call and response songs, Acapella songs, Songs about dancing, Songs of innocence and childhood, and many more.
