"mikeflo & Leo Goetz "Less Is More" (Review)"

Mike Flo x Leo Goetz – Less is More LP

So, its like the more and more I’m doing these reviews, I’m finding out these artists or groups are from or in the city of Atlanta. I’m amazed and surprised every time because there is a lot of unseen, unheard mad talent in the streets of Atlanta. Folks like Mike Flo is what needs to be played on the radio. Of course, that’s just my opinion. I’m just amazed of the raw talents there.

Mike Flo, however is from Southside Chicago, who later traveled to Atlanta to go to college at Clark Atlanta University and to pursue his career in music. Which is awesome because he started out as a DJ and now he’s an emcee and produces.

Real Hip-Hop.

Mike Flo is one of the few of the existing true hip hop artists still around. Yeah people think hip-hop is dead but nall its not. Its just not being played on the radio with the mainstream artists. Hip-Hop is and always was in the streets. Its just underlying deep down being passed around through mix-tapes and in eps/lps. Nowadays through the net just like how I received this one, Less is More.

Less is More LP is one album that shows hip hop lives on. Haven’t heard one like it from artists today or since I‘ve doing reviews on here on 84area. From Track 1 to Track 17 puts you in a zone and gives off that true hip hop feel. Maybe I’m putting a little more into it but its how I felt when I listened track after track. There’s a lot of originality and I love nothing more than a artist with such originality as Mike.

My Favs: “Habara Gani” (What’s The News?) Remix feat. DJ Life, & “Relax, Relate, Release” feat. Isa Starr

The interview skits on here were dope as well. It gave a little more on who the artist is, the music, and some realness.
Artists like him needs to be heard and I hope everyone you gets to and get the same experience I got out of it.

5 stars out of 5. - www.84area.com

Bio

mikeflo Of The RBG Family
Born and raised on the South Side of Chicago, mikeflo (emcee/producer/DJ) of the RBG family, has not only made a name for himself in the hip hop community in the states but has captured the attention of music lovers all over the world by using the intellectual stamina of an emcee to sketch revolutionary thoughts on the canvas of the listener’s mind. mikeflo has done what few emcees have been able to do. He has creatively merged “conscious” lyrics with an intense sonic backdrop to create music with a powerful message that forces you to nod your head religiously.

After high school, flo’s educational and musical journey led him to Atlanta, Georgia where he received a B.A. in Speech Communications from Clark Atlanta University and linked up with U.N.S.I.G.N.E.D, a collective of five emcees from different regions. “Consciousness Requires Action”, became the thematic foundation through which mikeflo wove intricate tales of life, love, and revolution. U.N.S.I.G.N.E.D ripped through Atlanta’s underground hip-hop scene before succumbing to creative differences and general life changes.
flo returned to Chicago, after leaving the group, where he released his first solo album, “The Empowerment Zone LP”. The album, which was supposed to be a demo, featured production by mikeflo and quickly became an underground enigma and stood out as a soundtrack for freedom.

Once again, flo left Chicago and returned to Atlanta where he hooked up with long time comrade DJ DRAMA to put out “ITS A NEW DAY ON THE PLANTATION” THE MIXTAPE VOL.1, HOSTED BY DRAMA. Since all songs and beats (70 percent produced by mikeflo) are original, the mixtape truly has an album feel, making it a true classic amongst connoisseurs of fine rhyme and revolutionary cuisine.
mikeflo has been billed all over the world alongside some of the biggest names in hip-hop, including: Nas, Mos Def, Talib Kweli, dead prez, Common, Slum Village, Outkast, KRS-ONE, A Tribe Called Quest, Dj Kid Capri, Dj Drama, and DJ Green Lantern.

His latest release, Less Is More (produced by Leo Goetz), has proven to fans that no matter how many times flo circles the world he will always remain true to who he is and that’s an emcee/DJ/producer that understands that music is power. With tracks like, Eat to Live and Big Band, flo’s growth as an artist is evident, but even more evident is his connection to his audience that also seems to grow with each new release.

When flo isn’t behind the mic you can find him all over the world on tour as dead prez’s resident DJ. Together they’ve rocked crowds in Canada, Russia, Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Australia, New Zealand, France, England, Amsterdam, Bermuda, Switzerland, and countless cities domestically in the U.S.

When asked what he wants listeners to get from his music he answered, “ I want them to know that my music is genuine and authentic.”
