Biography

Legendary “Drummer Extraordinaire” and Grammy nominated artist Mike Flythe is from Southeast Queens Jamaica, New York and one of the original “Jamaica Kats”. His many successes include the Platinum record “Funkin’ For Jamaica.”

Mike Flythe, band leader and lifelong Drummer, has recorded and toured internationally with various artists “Dizzy Gillespie, Alfonzo Blackwell, Brian McKnight, Kurtis Blow and Run DMC as well as performed on Broadway with Gregory Hines just to name a few.”

Aside from being an acute descendent of the late great Edward Kennedy “Duke” Ellington, Mike Flythe is known as the “Atomic Drummer” for his explosive style of drumming various genres of music and has continued to be driven to ascertain the elegance and integrity that has been passed down through his musical heritage and creates this experience with the “Mike Flythe Atomic Band”..

In September, 2011 Mike Flythe’s Jamaica Funk Kats/Parliament Funkadelic Tribute Band” gave an explosive performance along with the music group “The Ohio Players” at York College as well as Headlining for the 10th Annual St. Albans Jazz Festival, NY in 2012.
