Mike Head releases debut CD “In the Sound”

Mike Head’s musical journey began in high school in his music theory class. When he was 20 he started playing djembe drum and guitar while in college. He had taken jazz acoustic guitar lessons with Elliot Page of the Boston Music Company.

Mike began to work on his own material going down an eclectic road, which was diverse, raw and passionate enveloped with extraordinary lyrical content. He is also an accomplished writer of poetry publishing two books to date. He was diagnosed with bi-polar. This condition aided in his ability to create both his music and his poetry. He mainly writes about relationships and nature in Boston and Hyannis Port where he finds inspiration and an overflow of creative energy.

His single “Picnic” is off his CD “In the Sound”. It is about a couple’s experience one day on a picnic and the effects that their surroundings have on them. The endorphins begin to manifest themselves and a state of happiness and love comes into play. It is a magical moment in time that can be bottled and kept forever. The song honors his love for nature, the celestial, and all things alive. The guitar picking is therapeutic while the vocals enhance and bring life to this song. It is a wonderful single that introduces Mike Head to a worldwide stage.

"My music can fall under many categories which is why it is difficult to pin down in a few sentences. Many of the other songs depict the highs and lows a Bi-polar can achieve which I have always thought a gift to me artistically, though in the past the mood-disorder had the capacity to exceed my thought vacillations. Luckily, there are pharmaceuticals that keep me in a relative balance--to such a degree I have a real sensitivity to appreciate what's in and around me. No one is on an even keel--that would make the world a pretty boring place -but there is something to be said for making a song timeless and universal. I strive for that in my work."

“In The Sound” contains wonderful music that promotes a state of calm, peace, happiness and euphoria. The single “Picnic” reflects the overall essence of the CD by establishing a calming, lyrical, and organic structure that the other songs follow.
