Bio
Michael Jenkins is a guitarist, vocalist, and songwriter based out of St. John's, NL.
His love for music was cultivated at a young age while listening to his mother (ECMA nominee, Ada Piercey Jenkins) strum away on her guitar and sing in the dining room. Using his naturally trained ear helped him sculpt not only an extensive list of cover songs, but more importantly has given him an appreciation and understanding of writing and piecing together original works.
After completing CNA’s Music Industry and Performance Program under the direction of Wade Pinhorn and Neil Bishop, Mike moved to Edmonton in 2001. He gained exposure with an original rock band called Sinclair; releasing 2 albums, touring the east coast of Canada, and performing many live shows.
He is a musician of diverse talents. As a recording engineer he released his first EP "Abstract Mary" in 2007-not only writing and arranging, but performing all of the instruments as well. With his main instrument being guitar, he is also an avid vocalist, drummer and bassist.
Using his own style to create melodic harmonies both vocally and instrumentally, his musical creations have been defined as being rock/folk/alternative in nature. He is described by his peers as an artist of exemplary skill, and as a very down to earth character with nothing but passion and professionalism for what he writes and creates.
Michael also spends his time working at Reid Music teaching guitar, bass, and drums.
