Chicago based songwriter, musician, producer, and vocalist Mike Kota is an emerging alternative indie solo artist. Her sound is characterized by her rich voice, ambiguous songwriting, swells of harmonies, and heavy emotion.
She first appeared as the frontwoman of the band Good Luck Finding Iris, with much of her songwriting and performance demonstrated since their first release in 2016. Good Luck Finding Iris’s top songs hit thousands and hundreds of thousands of streams on Spotify alone.
Breaking off from the band, Mike's first single “Wasted Time" was released in the fall of 2018 and has been streamed over 260,000 times on Spotify since then. The song was written, recorded and produced by Mike in her college dorm room.
While Mike has stayed fairly elusive since the release, she’s begun playing shows locally. Her performance is enough to captivate an audience, but only teases what’s to come.
An EP is in the works, with projected release at the end of summer 2020. But as a multi-faceted artist ranging from poetry to film, we should expect more than just music from Mike.
