"Face Forward"

There are times when listening to a fellow musician’s work can be faintly depressing — and not, in cases like these, because the music is bad. Michael Lee plays 11 different instruments, arranges string parts, sings like a bird, engineers, produces, and writes ludicrously accomplished songs in odd time signatures. And he looks like he must be all of 20 years old. It’s simply not fair.
Face Forward moves seamlessly between prog-rock, folk and AOR, and manages to make the difficult bits of all of them sound effortless. The production is slick, the performances polished, and the whole package just reeks of quality. If nothing else, the fact that Michael Lee isn’t yet a household name really is depressing. Bio

For Michael Lee, an eighties childhood spent listening to an eclectic mix of music genres paved the way to an early fascination of indie rock. Already showing a marked taste for music, Michael looked ahead and began his creative journey to fulfil his ambition in carving a successful career within the music industry. Michael’s self-taught and distinct approach to music fuses progressive rock with intellectual attitude and flowing melodies. Combined with his talents in producing and writing his own material, Michael has emerged as a popular fixture on the gigging scene. Citing Jeff Buckley, Incubus and Sting as his main sources of inspiration, Michael strives to take the key elements of his musical influences and blend them into a sound never heard before. These innovations coupled with a strong passion for music has allowed Michael to produce his debut album, Face Forward set for release in 2009. Michael Lee has been able to intertwine all aspects of his musical attributes to serve as one of today’s most promising breakthrough solo artists.
