It's a new face, a new sound, a new era. And the name is..... MIKEL KNIGHT
Mikel Knight is a one-of-a-kind artist who pushes the envelope of Country Crossover. Mikel is a Texas-born Urban Country Crossover artist out of Nashville, Tennessee who has managed to combine several genres of music including Country, Urban, and Rock and came up with a formula that has quickly become his trademark sound. Only a small handful of artists are even attempting anything comparable to this which include Kid Rock, Colt Ford and Cowboy Troy.
Mikel Knight & The Outlaw Band are an independent, nationally touring act who are making waves in the music industry with their new sound of Urban Country or Country Rap. Country Rap appeals to a large audience throughout the U.S. Because it is the missing link between black and white, Urban and Country. Mikel has been bridging the gap between the two genres since 2004. He has established himself as a real, true to life performer and entertainer who does not rely solely on gimmicks or large corporate backing, but rather purely on his image and good music alone. The formula is simple. Hip hop drums behind the quality songwriting and musicianship of country and rock music. It's a little bit of Country with a Hip-Hop twist. I believe the name of his upcoming album entitled “Urban Cowboy” explains it all.
According to Mikel, “This is good, old-fashioned feel-good music that appeals to everyone whether you like Country, Rock, or Rap music. All the barriers have been broken and all the walls have been knocked down. This is the last stop in the evolution of music.” A few people have attempted to fuse Country and Rap together before but not like me. I am the innovator of mainstream cowboy rap.
