Mike Lorenz Group

Mike Lorenz is a jazz guitarist hailing from Upper Bucks County, PA. He is currently enrolled at Moravian College in Bethlehem, PA as a jazz performance major where has had the privilege to perform with and participate in master classes conducted by Bill Mays, Wynton Marsalis, Nicholas Payton, George Young, Bud Shank and Rufus Reid. He has studied such local and national talents as Peter Bernstein, Bill Washer, Tom Kozic, John Arnold and Skip Wilkins. Mike is a very involved musician in the Lehigh Valley and its surrounding areas playing at such places as Godfrey Daniels, the Wildflower Cafe, Monsoon Gallery, Doylestown First Friday and Siren Records in Doylestown, PA. This past December Mike began a monthly jazz night at Godfrey Daniels in Bethlehem where he presents varying programs of jazz music on the 2nd Tuesday of each month. As a guitarist, Mike draws influence from a wide variety of places. Some of his greatest influences guitarists Jim Hall, Bill Frisell and Wes Montgomery, pianists Fred Hersch and Bill Evans and jazz standouts such as John Coltrane and Paul Motian. Mike draws influence from other disicplines as well including 20th century classical music, classical guitar repertoire, folk music and even rock music.
