Biography

Mike Lynch was voted: "NIAGARA's COUNTRY GROUP OF THE YEAR, 2009" as part of the Niagara Music Awards !!!!!

If you took Stompin' Tom and Jim Cuddy, put em' in a bowl and mixed em' up, then threw in a dash of Johnny Cash, you'd get MIKE LYNCH!!

Mike travelled coast to coast in 09' performing more than 80 shows including Dauphin's Country Fest, Pembina River Nights, and Funk the Dunk (PEI) among others. Rounded out the year with a 13 date tour of northern Alberta as part of Mitch Padolok's 'Home Routes' circuit!! What a blast!!

Mike's comedic story telling and strong singing and songwriting talents, make him a unique and engaging artist!!

Mike's latest outing "Entertainer Tonight" got a rave review in Country Music News, saying "Mike's going the way of Stompin' Tom and Fred Eaglesmith with integrity intact!!" This is a CD with songs about the way it is out there, like the title track "Entertainer Tonight" a tell all song about being a travelling entertainer.. "Love em' and leave Kinda Games" a modern day cheatin' song with a heartbreaking ending, and the haunting , "Ballad of the Actress and The Singer", a song about two artists trying to make ends meet when things are tight. This is a duet with Ottawa's Lynne Hanson.
Entertainer Tonight, by Mike Lynch available now!!

Mike's love and appreciation for traditional country singers like Hank Williams, Johnny Cash, and Conway Twitty have helped him in evolving his own unique style. Blended with contemporary favourites of today like Blue Rodeo, Steve Earle, and Stompin' Tom, his singing and songwriting have found their own unique flavour.
Raised in small town Beamsville, Ontario, in a family of hockey players, with a hockey coach for a Dad and a great fan in his Mom... Mike was supposed to be the next Darryl Sittler, but his love of real country music soon became his true passion, and soon after his short lived hockey carreer ended, his new dream began!!
Mike's sound has a strong cross-over appeal and he has shared the stage with a variety of acts such as The Skydiggers, Great Big Sea, Roger Hodgeson (formerly of Supertramp), Fred Eaglesmith, Jason McCoy, Ronny Hawkins, Moxy Fruvous and comedian Dave Coulier among others.

MJL WAS HERE

Written By: Mike Lynch

I found a park bench, in the middle of town,
I was feelin' kinda tired so I sat down.
2000 miles away from my home, I thought maybe I'd let 'em all know.

MJL was here, carved it out nice
Big bold letters, I knew it wasn't right,
Next to Lucy's a whore, wrote 2004 MJL was here..

I walked away thinkin' everything was ok,
When I was approached, by a Winnipeg policeman.
He said "Son, can you do the time,
Cause what you done there was a federal crime.

MJL was here, carved it out nice,
Big bold letters, I knew it wasn't right,
Next to Lucy's a whore, wrote 2004 MJL was here.

A friend of mine, gave me that knife,
He said "Mike, this is for luck."
But now I'm sittin' here, with a hundred dollar fine,
wSandpaper and a paintbrush,

MJL was here.....

Highway of Dreams

Written By: Mike Lynch

I got a yellow traffic light, but I think I'll just roll on through,
I'm way past the point of rescue, down my highway of dreams.
Theres a motel ahead, maybe I should rest for a while, I been 8 hours, five hundred miles, down my highway of dreams.
See I gotta play tomorrow night, in a little town on the north island shore,
I got fans waitin' for me there, down my highway of dreams.
I miss my family, I miss my friends, I know someday I'll be back home again, but for now theres just so much to see, down my highway of dreams.

About a year ago, I said goodbye to the life I used to know, packed my guitars, and headed down that road, down my highway of dreams.
And I'll sing my songs, all the way up to the Yukon. I seen the prairies the mountains, now the sea, down my highway of dreams.
I miss my family, I miss my friends, I know someday I'll be back home again, but for now theres just so much to see, down my highway of dreams.
I gotta roll now, but let me leave you with some advise. Don't ever be afraid to drive, down your highway of dreams, down your highway of dreams, down your highway of dreams..
