The Artist Mike McAnally grew up in Philadelphia in the 1950’s &60’s, a time when the Music Business was thriving with an abundance of local talent performing live music just about everywhere.

Mike has performed in a variety of local bands to backing up acts such as ”The Drifters, The Platters, Lee Andrew & the Hearts etc. “ He also worked in recording with Tony Luisi (formally of NFL films late 1960’s early 70’s & producer of Electric Tommy with Joe Renzetti) also Frank Virtue Studios and Mike Nice Productions in the mid 1970’s.

In 1979 Mike was affiliated with the “The Philadelphia Jazz Ensemble” which performed his piece “ The Village” at many public concerts throughout the Philadelphia region. He also performed regularly in Cape May NJ and on cable television stations for local charities benefit drives.

During the 80’s Mike managed to fulfill family obligations by working in a fortune 500 company along with composing, recording & teaching. During that time he produced two compositions for the University of the Arts Film and Animation department.

In 1990 Mike return to full-time music by starting his own Studio business (McAnally Music Studio) He also studied with the late great legendary Dennis Sandole ( John Coltrane, Pat Martino etc.) This association lead Mike into new realms in composition as well as many great contacts such as; producer George Small, the late Rufus Harley, Scott McGill and many other Philadelphia great talents) During this time and under the guidance of Dennis Sandole, Mike was able to circulate his projects from LA to Paris through great organizations like TAXI, BMI, AFM and The Burlington County Musical Society Local 336 AFM, Mike worked with the finest musicians in the Tri-state region.

To date Mike has produced three albums but with only one release (Jazz Impressions)
He has also produced music for Muzak, Arrangement for song demo’s for other local artists, background and themes for Historical Documentaries, Local cable TV projects, The Independent Film industry, and PBS as well as background music for High School Theatrical productions.

Mike has secured many licensing agreements with Sound Libraries across the globe. Although, he may never be a household name he enjoys life on his own terms and sees himself and judges his work though his eyes only. Composition is his passion and the only reason he continues is based on the words of the late great Romeo Cascarino his first teacher at Combs College of Music, “The only reason we are in this, is because we love it. There can be no other reason.”
