The Things You Do

Written By: Mike Novak

The Things You Do

My eyes are glazing over and the snow is not white anymore
Its been tainted by the ashes of the burning gods bones
Break a paradigm
Accosted for a dime
And I’ve been running through the fields and hills trying to catch hold of the wind
And I formulate every incident that I ever lived
Burned into my skin
I had to let it in
Infected by a storm
Blowing me off course

But I know
Something’s wrong but I cant find it in you
I’ve been walking talking all night long and I
Cant get enough, I
Cant get enough, I
Can’t get enough of you
And the things you do
The things you do
I do them for you

And all these days are passing by I can’t believe that I made it this far
I made a choice to let it out I wanna dig it up from the ground
Buried so long
A forgotten song
That I sing to you every night but you’re never there to receive
The stars are out bright and clear but youdont look up to see
Comets come and go
The universe moves slow
Back and forth in time
There is no starting line

But I know Something’s wrong
I can’t blame it on you
Cause I been drinking smoking all night long and I
Cant get enough, I
Cant get enough, I
Can’t get enough of you
And the things you do
The things you do
I do them to you

Mysteries and unknown facts and lost places from the past
Rising seas and tsunamis all the things that will never be
Buried in the mud
Covered from above
Until the time is right to reemerge rising up from below the sea
All the secretes that can never die return when the time is right
There to receive
To anyone who needs
Looking down the line
Running out of time

But I know Something’s wrong
I can’t take it from you
Cause I been shaking breaking all night long and I
Cant get enough, I
Cant get enough, I
Can’t get enough of you
And the things you do
The things you do
The things you do
The things you do

Algae Are Friends

Written By: Mike Novak

Algae are Your Friends

It started out with the blue/greens they had no true motility
They floated around the ancient seas making air for you to breathe
While living in colonies, unicells, and filaments
They had to evolve to change their ways
They had to find a new way to procreate

Along came the reds, sexual reproduction was a better function
Carpospores, trichogynes, sporophytes what a modification
Then came the greens they have the same pigments as the trees
And there are so many species and so many types
You have to break them down to groups
To make it alright

And then came technology and way up over the sea
They put satellites in the heavens
Collecting light from all the oceans
But what did it all mean
The color did change it seemed
There was a relationship in algal concentration
And the blue to the green ratio
And what we now know is that

Algae are your Friends
Convert carbon dioxide to oxygen
I wrap my sushi in the reds
Emulsifiers, stabilizers
Fodder, or fertilizers
Carrageenan, alginic acid
Makes petri dishes for your classes

Algae are you friends
Their uses will never end
Algae are your friends
They’ll be there until the end
Algae they are you friends

Complete

Written By: Mike Novak

Complete

I got all these questions that I want to know
What are these words and where can they make me go
Do I need this knowledge or should I make my own
By learning from the creatures that surround in the world that I know
And if you choose that direction then you see what has been shown
To the ancient man, with the warriors hand
Moving through the people being touched by their souls
Ingesting all the power that he sees in his life all alone

One more time then I have to go
Cause I can’t call this home
These places go by so fast yet so fine
I travel through time and across the land and I try to understand
Why cant we just feel complete

Staring at this beauty sprawled in front of me
The river goes by but reflections they stay in my eye
Changing what I see images of the autumn leaves
And I start to go inside then I vacate out of my mind
Emptyness of words cant hear what is beng heard
By the sense I’ve known I had to let them go
And sift through the skies on a vision of your device
Changing what is heard just to be on top of this world

One more time then I have to go
Cause I can’t call this home
These places go by so fast yet so fine
I travel through time and across the land and I try to understand
Why cant we just feel complete

Underground

Written By: Mike Novak

Underground

I can’t stand the sound of all these bodies they’re breaking down
Something has to give if you push to hard
Bury it outside in the backyard
Don’t you understand I’m not gonna be there to hold your hand
I can’t take anymore when I’m out the door
I had to force myself not to turn around
If we go on down never gonna hit the ground

But I know there had to be a place for you to lay your head
When you’re drifting through the heavens
But you feel like you were dead
And the only truth you ever knew is locked up in your head
But if we go on down underground

Stranded by the ground not enough space all around
The air is too thick to breathe all around me
Where to place my feet doesn’t occur to me
I can’t recognize where the truth begins or the fable lies
I can’t follow the lines across the page
Left in front of your silent rage
Every time I try It burns a whole in my mind

But I know there had to be a place for you to lay your head
When you’re drifting through the heavens
But you feel like you were dead
And the only truth you ever knew is locked up in your head
But if we change our minds
We’re running out of time

Something is on your mind it’s taking your time
But I don’t know what to do
Cause I could not change these things for you
As we were sipping on the wine wasting our time
I was paralyzed in you
But I could not say the things to you
But If we go on down
Underground

Light

Written By: Mike Novak

If I follow the open road
It could become my home
Step up across the land
Begin to understand
That all the things that are at hand
People dying for the plans
Of the men that think they know
Crafting creatures as they go
Stampeding through the plains
Stalking games of paper change
Look into the lives
Of the people that they strife
These lives won’t go away
Won’t go on by
Give me one more day
Give me one more night
If you stand too far away
It will make you want to stray
Tomorrow’s another day
Don’t let it slip away
The choices to be made
To live another way
When you’re standing on the ground
The others are looking down
Growing restless by the sound
Of the progress all around
If you look into the rain
You can see the light of day
Today get out of my way
Get out of my light
Come what may
Come what might

Move Along

Written By: Mike Novak

Don’t take my hands away
Cause I’ve been trying to work it all out
Don’t break my bones away
Cause I’m so tired of knocking them down
Don’t shake my mind today
Cause Im so close to taking them out
Cant feel my sense today
Cause ive been trying to block them all out
When the show begins there will not be an end
No matter where you go
To sleep at night your open wide
To the strangest days of the wisest ways
When we gazed away at the universe
As we traverse and we move along
Black dog been fading away
And I don’t know how to make her stay
My home been traded away
To live in a place where I compensate
Wont waste my day away
Watch my soul turn inside out
Cant steel this page away
Its been written down and it can not be found
Chorus
Far from the end of days
What happens now stays in the ground

Makin Waves

Written By: Mike Novak

The wind starts to blow across the ocean
Making capillary motion
The generation of the seas
They dynamics of the breeze
Making swells for the taking
That traverse the ocean basin

Then it forms a breaking line
Going up and down that slide
When you get to the end of the ride
Feeling fine so divine

Makin Waves

Early in the morning
When I wake up with the calling
The frost is on the ground
But I can hear that sacred sound

Of the motion of the ocean
Cause there is no better potion
Then the magic of the sky
The sun coming up while you ride
There is no better time
To feel so fine and devine

Makin Waves

Cause there are so many ways
To harness the power of waves Endless forms of energy
To make you ride
Gonna catch that ride

The Wood Man

Written By: Mike Novak

Proud Man Take a look around
Feel all the sights and see the sounds
Sun shines burning on down
Haste in the race will loose your space
Quiet without a sound break
Break down the walls and shake the ground
Come back you gotta be here
Just can't stand being far from the fear of

Going out without a sound

I don't know where the Woodman grows but I
Hear his voice when the wind starts to blow
Inside there is no glory outside feeling the fury
Back down you're under a mound
Blacked out never to be found

Cause you're never gonna come back home
You're always gonna be alone
You're never gonna let it go
You're always gonna have to roam

Buyers selling their souls
Living it up from the beggars gold
Believers and they're so devout
Trust in God without a doubt
Grievers mourning their souls
Passion from deep down in a hole
Burned out and broken down
Way to late to change your fate of
Going out without a sound

I don't know where the Woodman grows but I
Hear his voice when the wind starts to blow
Inside there is no glory outside feeling the fury
Back down you're under a mound
Blacked out never to be found

The End

Written By: Mike Novak

I want to stretch it out
Make it last all night long
I had to lay it out
Put it down all over the town
I want to tell it to you
With all the funny things you do
Gonna make me start to exlpode
I cant take it anymore

Sometimes you have to try
Other times just leave it all behind
No matter what you believe
Its gonna come through to you
Cause I got one more expression
Coming up from all my depression
I did not understand
There had to be some kind of end

I've Been trying all night to work it out
But I've been letting myself down
I've been spinning all around
Falling to the ground and there's no one around
But everybody knows
That to all of my friends
I'm gonna Love you to the end

It came into my mind
There was so much left I had to find
Searching everything for the truth
In all the places that were removed
By the temptation of you
I want to be every part through and through
Well there was one time ago
When we were all together in my home
Set adrift in a tide
Going back and forth in a line
Never gonna get that way
Transmigrate into outer space
And look through the fabric of time
Unfold all of the lives
That been taking part in you
Culminating in your room
But I don't want to pay your dues
Its only up to you

I've Been trying all night to work it out
But I've been letting myself down
I've been spinning all around
Slammed to the ground and there's no one to be found
But everybody knows
That to all of my friends
I'm gonna Love you to the end

How Long

Written By: Mike Novak

How Long

In the middle of the night I see a point of light
It confuses like a moth to a flame
Its been growing across the sky
Free and flowing just another sign
If you choose me I don't want to know
Cause I've been trying just to let it go
But it comes out each and every night
But I won't fight it when it's on my mind

How Long

Will they draw these lines for everyone to see
But the perception isn't what they need
All these vampires draining all of the light
From the children of the coming light

How Long

If you can tell me why there's no one here
Just pretenders bound up by fear
Pushing pills for pain that cannot go away
Selling answers that will not weigh

Cause I've been trying each and every night
You've been sliding in and out of sight
You've been telling all your dreams to me
I've been dying from my own disease

Your Side

Written By: Mike Novak

I walked right in
but I could not stay
I could not even go
Until I saw you there
despair in your eye
I had to give a try

I will be on your side

I caught your eye
From across the way
I'm feeling it to
Let's hide away
Deep in the forest
Let the magic consume

I will be on your side

I wait so long
Searching my soul
Turned inside out
Let's hide away
Deep in the forest
Let the magic consume

Last Train

Written By: Mike Novak

Into the moonlight under the stars bright
A touch of heaven I could not let it in
Until tomorrow when all the world will know
That its over walk on out the door
Step on the highway towards another day
I just couldn't shake it I had to break it

But I've gone away
And I can't go on this way
No matter what I say
I'll take that last train home all along
And watch those lights go by
Strangers is time

There are no answers only paradigms
I don't believe it there once was a time
When all the questions had different reflections
And i could look right in and let it all begin
Start to overflow and have no control
In all its glory just another story

But it's much too late
To ex-communicate
No matter what I say
I'll take that last train home all along
And watch those lights go by
Strangers is time

Its so contagious to state of mind
breaks down the pages undues the rhyme
twist the words around can not find the ground
then its too late drift in outerspace
lost forever can't communicate
with the angels or even demons

But I've gone away
And I can't go on this way
No matter what I say
I'll take that last train home all along
And watch those lights go by
Strangers is time

Small Claims

Written By: Mike Novak

As I walk through the gates of emptiness
I remember your heart in a sweet reminisce
But I just want to make it all go away
Cause I don't want to know what I can never behold

And I chose this direction just feel the pain
Learn about direction as I feel the shame
And I found my way to the silent side
By making lots of noise with all of my might

But I'll stake my claim
I don't need nobody to show me the way
And I feel like I'm insane
I got this Devil inside of my brain

As I listen to the voices inside of my head
They been laughing and yelling and saying I'm dead
A schizophrenic junkie but I don't mind
Cause I been laughing and crying and still I've been denying

As I go on down down now I'll finds you here on some common ground
But if you show me something I wont take it from you
Cause I cant stand it when you know it aint true

Chorus

And I think back to where it all began
It was the sweetest kind of loving in its innocence
I took it to the end then I brought it on back
But I won't take my hand back

As I go on down down now I'll finds you here on some common ground
But if you show me something I wont take it from you
Cause I cant stand it when you know it aint true

Chorus
