Their story is one of the more miraculous musical 180s in relatively obscure rock. They began as a dime-a-dozen college rock group, sometimes playing acoustically to Greek crowds full of underage drinkers. Then, a few years ago they underwent a complete musical overhaul. Their metamorphosis into a contagious indie rock group with yards of promise has turned them into one of the most important bands in Columbia, South Carolina. Amazingly, the change doesn't seem forced at all. During their shows they are as moved by the music as their most die-hard fans. Solid, punchy indie rock with forceful melody. “Laying Next to My Lover” is a cute and harmonious tune with driving chords and simple but effective beat about remembering love and death. “Tell Me What You Said” moves between screeching guitars and classic rock soloing while the vocals occasionally yell and reach their breaking point.

Since returning to the music scene last year after doing some retooling and recording, MiKenPike released Record for the Years, which is chock full of guitar-driven minor-epic indie rock that recalls The Cure and post-Transatlanticism Death Cab for Cutie.

Bio
In 2003 a group of high school friends formed to try to bring their individual musical talents together as one. The result was an original and inspired indie rock sound that as the cliché goes doesn't lend itself to a specific genre. But with this band it is true. The formula is simple and is one that as the history of music unfolds you will find boils down to heart on your sleeve writing. Josh Pike singer and main song writer for Mikenpike has his heart bleeding for all to see. Powerful lyrics blend in with inspiring musical accompaniment cemented by solid and pounding drums from drummer Ken Hein and jaw dropping bass lines from bassist Andrew Pike. The 4 piece is rounded out by layered guitars and vocals from Josh Pike and Mike Scofield. In a short time this band has managed to do the hardest task young bands have, and that is develop a sound and a voice. Currently Mikenpike have developed a small cult following and continue to grow it around the southeast.
