Biography

Mike Officer. The mid-west born singer/songwriter ended an attempt at formal education in a hazy dorm room at the University of Iowa.  After being changed forever by the music of artists such as Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd and Jeff Buckley, Mike picked up the guitar and headed to California.
In San Diego, amongst owning a glass blowing business, chopping firewood, and walking dogs, Mike finds a friend and guru in singer/songwriter/producer John Katchur.  In 2006 he records his first solo album in Katchur's inspirational studio.  His first work is filled with soaring melodies and familiar roots beautifully woven together with an avant garde sensibility.  Following his debut release, with renewed vigor and a desire to learn more about his craft, Mike set out for the Musicians Institute in Hollywood.
The MOB has recently emerged from the depths of Hollywood, a band of troubadors... all fellow students at the Musician’s Institute. Mike Officer, from the heartland of Iowa, sings and plays rhythm guitar; Jason Thomason, hailing from New Mexico is a seasoned blues guitarist that has recently remolded himself into eclectic new form; Max Kutzman, from northern Montana lends a firm yet fluid touch on bass; Andrew Hynes from the south side of Chicago holds down the fort on drums. Together, they have taken Mike's music to a soulful place, with added energy and dynamics, fresh songs and new stories.  Many yet to be told.

Lyrics

C'est La Vie

Written By: Mike Officer

Verse 1
Tell me are you free for the night
Send me a postcard I promise to write
Things always happen the way they will
I took your picture you were lying so still

Pre Chorus
And it’s the only painting hanging on my wall
Pick up the pieces of this life and count them all

Chorus
Oh oh, c’est la vie mi amore
C’est la vie mi amore

Verse 2
Sell me all your love don’t think twice
Lend me a cigarette take my advice
Stay a little longer before you go
I’ll ask you a question and hope you say no

Bridge
We are ill-fated, shaded in blue
We are ill-fated, shaded in blue
And all the love in the world can save us now
Yeah all the love in the world can save us now

Verse 3
Good things come to those who can wait
Hold on to something before its to late
Love is a long road so hide your pain
No I’m not crying that’s just the rain
In my eyes

Pre Chorus
And it’s the only painting hanging on my wall
Pick up the pieces of this life and count them all

Chorus
Oh oh, c’est la vie mi amore
C’est la vie mi amore

Can't Look Back

Written By: Mike Officer

Verse 1
You can’t tell me how to feel
I don’t know what is real it seems like such a long long time ago
I work my fingers to the bone feel just like a rolling stone
Traveling on with no place to go

Chorus
And I cant look back anymore
Cause I’m walking on the ceiling but I’m lying on the floor
No I can’t look back anymore

Verse 2
If you walk a ways on down the road
You’ll find a girl or so I’m told
Who’ll tell you all you’ll ever want to know

Verse 3
In the early morning of the light
She comes to me still as night
Together now we will surely go

Chorus
And I cant look back anymore
Cause I’m walking on the ceiling but I’m lying on the floor
No I can’t look back anymore
Cause I’m walking on the ceiling but I’m lying on the floor
No I can’t look back anymore
