Just Grace

Written By: Michael Rayson

Before you spoke the word, just grace
Before my cry was heard, just grace
Before my fingers and toes and my mouth and my nose were fashioned into place
Just grace, just grace

And its only by grace, that Jesus has saved
Not by the works of my hands or my best laid plans just grace
Nothing but grace, can fully erase
From my first to my last all my life will pass through grace

Before I learned to run, just grace
Before my songs were sung, just grace
Before I climbed my first tree, fell down on one knee, and saw my baby boys face
Just grace, just grace

And its only by grace, that Jesus has saved
Not by the works of my hands or my best laid plans just grace
Nothing but grace, can fully erase
From my first to my last all my life will pass through grace

Before the world began, just grace
The Fathers perfect plan of grace
And you walked in my skin, embraced me within, and died there in my place
Just grace, sweet grace

No shame, You have taken away
Just grace, and I stand amazed
From the ends of the earth and the height of the skies to the depths of my estate
Just grace, just grace

And its only by grace, that Jesus has saved
Not by the works of our hands or our best laid plans, just grace
Nothing but grace can fully erase
From our first to our last all our lives will pass through grace
From our first to our last all our lives will pass through grace.

You Carry Us

Written By: Michael Rayson

In the mountain air of a sleepy dream
Where the tree’s were turning shades of green
Who could have known that evil lay in wait
As we wiped the Monday from our eyes
Shots rang through Virginia skies
The sound of living stolen clear away
And we reeled away in shock, at the list of those we lost
On the day the seed of sin grew rough and wild
We just felt so confused at the story on the news
And wondered did you leave us for a while

You were there when the Hokies died
When the towers fell and the whole world cried
And the 7/7 trains were torn apart
You were there with the flash of light
In the twisted steel of a Bali night
You gathered us within Your very heart
When the road was just too rough You carried us

In a world that seems ao full of pain
When the sun hides up behind the rain
Sometimes it feels like we are all alone
Where we seem to sink instead of swim
When we get ahead just to fall back in
And we wonder will we ever make it home
Yet it’s not what we have done, or what we can become
Or how we feel that brings another chance
To the quiet of our grave, You have journeyed once again
And through Your death You breathe in us Your dance

You were there when the Hokies died
When the towers fell and the whole world cried
And the 7/7 trains were torn apart
You were there with the flash of light
In the twisted steel of a Bali night
You gathered us within Your very heart
When the road was just too rough You carried us

The chains of death are never strong enough
For evil can’t abide the strength of love

For You were there when they crucified
When the sky turned black and His mother cried
And the curtain in the temple ripped apart
You were there at the dawn of day
And You rolled the heavy stone away
You gathered us within your very heart

You were there when the Hokies died
When the towers fell and the whole world cried
And the 7/7 trains were torn apart
You were there with the flash of light
In the twisted steel of a Bali night
You gathered us within Your very heart
When the road was just too rough You carried us
Every step we take You carry us

The Cloud

Written By: Michael Rayson

Deep in the maze, don’t know if its night or day
Grasping for faith, in colors of darkened grey
And I can’t see past tomorrow, I can barely live today
For the constancy of sorrow is eating away
Trying to hold, but feeling my fingers bleed
As I slip and let go, You have a hold on me
In the valley of the shadows, where my feet are slow to step
Still this night is strangely hallowed and You’re one step ahead

So I run with the cloud of the saints cheering loud
As the hope of the ages blows in
And I press through the dark up ahead is the spark
Where the light of Your glory seeps in
For I glimpse a reflection of total perfection
Where the pain of the day cannot ring
And eternity calls out to death, “Where is your sting!”

It’s hard to let go, to think of what might have been
And the cruelness of time, it changes not one thing,
I will share this burden gladly, but I won’t give up this pain
For I’d rather love and lose, for love still remains

So I run with the cloud of the saints cheering loud
As the hope of the ages blows in
And I press through the dark up ahead is the spark
Where the light of Your glory seeps in
For I glimpse a reflection of total perfection
Where the pain of the day cannot ring
And eternity calls out to death, “Where is your sting!”

Now evil you’ve tried to throw mud in my eye
To quench out the fire within
But although you have taken, you’re just mistaken
I dance with the King of all Kings

So I run with the cloud of the saints cheering loud
As the hope of the ages blows in
And I press through the dark up ahead is the spark
Where the light of Your glory seeps in
For I glimpse a reflection of total perfection
Where the pain of the day cannot ring
And eternity calls out to death
So I run with the cloud of the saints cheering loud
As the hope of the ages blows in
And I press through the dark up ahead is the spark
Where the light of Your glory seeps in
For I glimpse a reflection of total perfection
Where the pain of the day cannot ring
And eternity calls out to death
Yes, eternity calls out to death, “Where is your sting!”

Save Me

Written By: Michael Rayson

Hey, hello, are you even listening
Or did you turn your face away from me
Feeling all alone, I didn’t even know
That around the corner evil hands would…
Come and steal, the heart of who I used to be
The dreams, I dreamed, have fallen in the sea

Save me, from these chains
Hide me, deep inside your loving arms again

Who am I?, that You would send a man
To walk inside my aching skin and then
Remembering my name, through the shadow-lands of pain
Maybe now I feel a tiny piece of how, Your heart
Was tortured from the deep inside when He
The Son, breathed the last of life to

Save me, from these chains
Hide me, deep inside your loving arms
Save me, from these chains
Hide me, deep inside your loving arms again

It’s enough to know the revelation day will come
Where the valley of the shadows meets the rising of the Son

Save me, from these chains
Hide me, deep inside your loving arms
Save me, from these chains
Hide me, deep inside your loving arms again
