Lyrics

Love and Mushrooms

Written By: Mike and Norah Sadava

Sam could find a mushroom under a log
Hidden by a foot of moss in the middle of a bog
Morels sorrels shitakes
For New York and Japan
When he went to the mountains
Sam became a lonely man

Sally waited tables at a place she’d never eat
Serving steak and chicken, though she’d given up on meat
‘Til Sam came in for coffee with mud on his shoes
Soon convinced his server, she could pick mushrooms too

CHORUS
They pick them in the mountains and they pick them on the plains
And the best time for picking is after it rains
They’re pickers for all seasons under all sorts of skies
Since they found each other they kissed their lonely days goodbye

The rain was fallin’ hard that day as they sheltered from the storm
Huddled close together to keep each other warm
Sparks flew as their revenue stayed rooted in the ground
They didn’t make a dollar but think of what they found

They made love in the mountains, love in the plains
And the best time for lovin, is on the days it rains
They’re lovers for all seasons, under all sorts of skies
Since they found each other they kissed their lonely days goodbye.

Now they’ve got two mouths to feed and another one comin’ on
Sam goes to the mountains, and Sally stays at home
Every now and then they get to leave the kids with mom
And all day they pick mushrooms, and then make love ‘til way past dawn
