Biography

New York indie-pop band, Mike Sandwich began as an experiment between long-time friends in early 2001. The group developed its sound and style rooted in the D.I.Y approach: need rehearsal space? Build it; Want to play a festival? Create one; need an album? Learn how, and produce one; And, most importantly, want to develop a distinct sound? Lock yourselves in a room for months until you find it.

While they continually draw from their contemporaries for inspiration, bands like The Flaming Lips, Supergrass, The Pixies, Happy Mondays, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Stone Roses, and U2 have influenced their sound and defined for them what being a band is about.

Mike Sandwich music has been featured in film, TV and radio including The Tribeca Film Festival and on the A&E network. Most recently, the band was picked and headlined at the Rockefeller Plaza NYC2012 Pop Rally. This performance was broadcast for TV Tokyo, as well as all of the major American networks including local affiliate NY1.

The band has also been asked for the third year in a row to play Boston?s Walk for Hunger on the Boston Common main stage. They have also worked with The Capital District?s Regional Food Bank in Albany to create benefit performances as well as with The City Harvest in New York, NY.

Mike Sandwich has performed with national acts including Mobius Band, Action! Action!, A Flock of Seagulls and Slunt and has played major festivals including:
o The Rockefeller Plaza NYC2012 Pop Rally
o The Rock and Roll Circus Spectacular in Coney Island
