Bio

Mike grew up in the 80s which was such a diverse time musically. It was the dawning of the MTV era where American’s would be exposed to so many different styles of music right in the comfort of their living rooms. But Mike was always drawn to country music. “ "Country music is rooted in the lives of everyday Americans, which we could relate to. The honesty of the country songs I grew up listening to molded my style of writing.” After high school and college, Mike followed the path of his father and his grandfather and joined the Air Force. “I’ve always had a strong sense of patriotism, even as a kid.” He served four years during the Desert Storm conflict. “That period of time in my life was vital. I grew up and learned what life was all about. I realized what my father and other veterans have done for our country without a second thought.” When Mike decided to pursue his dreams in Music City, his decision was influenced by a chance encounter in Las Vegas. “I was living in Southern California at the time and decided to take a road trip to Vegas with a buddy of mine. It was nearing my time to hit the road for Nashville so I wanted a little get away to think about the venture I was about to take on. I ended up meeting country recording artist Mark Collie. We immediately hit it off and then we hit the town!!” During their night in Las Vegas they discussed Mike’s musical goals and Mark offered his help when he got to town. A few months later Mike moved to Nashville and went to work for Mark Collie. “He gave me a crash course on what to do..and what not to do here.” Mike did anything from typing lyric sheets, to working with top record executives and recording artists. “I was very intimidated with the talent level in Nashville at first, but I’ve always had a competitive bone in me. Tell me I can’t do something and I’ll die trying!!” Mike has been in Nashville since 1999, honing his craft and preparing for his big splash in Music City. “Mark Collie shared a lot of wisdom with me, but one thing has always stuck out in my head. He said Mike, you gotta stay to play.” And he has.
