Acoustic Folk Blues, Solo Performer. Guitar and Vocals.

Biography

Originally from New York City where he started his career playing in the clubs and studying with the likes of Jorma Kaukonen and Stephan Grossman to the San Francisco Bay area where he continued to hone his skills as both a bandleader and solo artist. Mike Tolle is an accomplished guitarist and vocalist who plays  Acoustic Folk Blues.

His playing technique was forged nearly thirty five years ago, while learning the styles of the pre-war piedmont and delta blues musicians. Many hours of wood-shedding, performing and teaching this old timey style has given Mike the ability to cultivate a technique that always seems to let the music flow over a solid, infectious groove. His guitar playing can be described as both lyrical and rhythmically dynamic. His vocal delivery, melodic, with a touch of grit that seems to ripen with age.

Mike Tolle  performs from the mainstay of the folk blues catalog, dating mostly from the 1920's through the 1940's, along with some  lesser known, mainly forgotten treasures.  With a keen eye on tradition as well as an ability to put a singer songwriter feel to the genre gives in to a modern sensibility, all the while remaining true to its roots.

After a two year hiatus from performing, Mike Tolle is currently putting the final touches on his self titled Solo Acoustic Blues Album, due  this coming Fall, 2015. His plans are to resume performing in support of his upcoming album.

Mike earns his living teaching guitar in Northern Colorado, both privately and at Front Range Community College.
