M-I-L

Greg Turner aka M-I-L is currently doing double duty in the studio working on both his mixtape and debut ep. For years he recorded tracks in the closet of his bedroom and would later post them online. His MySpace page boasts over 442,000 views and 844,000 plays proving there is a fan base for the MC affectionately known as Tha Folkz. Discovering Hip-Hop at the tender age of 9 via his uncle’s VHS tape of rap videos, M-I-L knew he wanted to do with the rest of his life. Since then he’s been in 2 different rap groups, was the opening act for Snoop Dogg, Ludacris and Outkast in 2001 and in 2003 was the opening act for the Ying Yang Twins. Although the dream to becoming a rap superstar seemed in arms reach, M-I-L decided to focus on reality. “Truth is I was a grown man still living with my moms at the time so I felt like I had to really buckle down, get a job, move out and truly become a man. As much as I love to write, record and perform my songs, my songs did not pay bills, pay rent and put food on the table so I had to put my dream on hold and do my 9 to 5 thing.” 7 years would pass before M-I-L decided to go back in the studio and give his dream one last shot. One of the first songs he recorded was the mid-tempo jam “I Wanna Ride with U.” Over booming 808s and a poppy-like synth groove, M-I-L cleverly describes being with a girl ‘until the wheels fall off’ through thick and thin like riding through the city in a pretty car. Focusing on hip-hop/pop records with crossover appeal rather than the usual drug & murder routine, its clear M-I-L is ahead of the competition and the game.
