Mile End Thieves

Like most punk/rock bands, it all started in high school.

The year was 2001. The location: Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. The weather? Mediocre at best (it's an Ottawa thing...)

At the time, Nick and Gab were school mates enrolled in their schools' music program; they were also starting a specialisation in dicking around and playing hacky-sack. Across town, Seb was attending a more conservative school, desperately trying to identify as a punk despite the school strict uniform policy. Back then, Seb was dating a girl by the name of Ginger (not a stripper) who attended the same school as Nick and Gab. Upon meeting Gab, she immediately thought of getting him and Seb to meet each other. The meeting was a revelation. The two immediately clicked and clashed in the best ways possible. They then began to jam out together and Gab quickly got Nick on board to join the "band".

At first the trio jammed out to Blink-182; playing a variety of their songs from all albums. Eventually feeling unfulfilled, they started writing songs of their own; songs they wished to hear from the likes of Blink-182 and Green Day. They soon decided to take direction of the band, then called Eetfuk, in their owns hands and continue writing songs that represented themselves. Hours of practice turned into weeks and weeks into months; eventually the band had managed to write an album's worth of original songs.

In 2006, Nick, Gab and Seb recorded their first self titled EP with Bran Van 3000's guitarist Nick Hynes as their producer. The EP featured 5 original tracks that showed off some of the variety the band had to offer within their punk-rock genre. Now under the name of +NewEmpire+ the trio went on to host a launch party and continued with a handful of shows within the Ottawa region. A devastating blow was eventually dealt when Nick told the band he had to move to Toronto to finish his schooling. This was a calling for Seb and Gab who had every intention of pursuing this band together.

The following summer, Gab and Seb moved to the great city of Montreal. They quickly began searching for a replacement and for about a year they had an interim drummer: Brandon. Brandon was a good choice for the band: he had great stage presence and a great personality, yet the void left by Nick was a difficult one to fill. The new trio continued to rock in Montreal clubs and bars but news from afar eventually reached their ears; Nick completed his studies and wanted back in. Brandon understood and gave way for Nick to sit behind his beloved drum set after a two year hiatus from the trio. The guys quickly started rehearsing and threw a couple shows together to get back on track as the brothers they once were.

In 2011, a decade after they first met, they recorded their second EP entitled "Eleven is the Meaning" at DNA Creations Studios with the legendary JP Nault. JP's past love-affair with pop punk came back to kiss him on the mouth when the band came into his studio to start this project, and he quickly jumped on board and helped us become the best our band has ever been. "Eleven is the Meaning" features four original and complete tracks as well as an instrumental intro track. The focus of this EP was to record newer material and again showcase our different styles in the genre.

Half a year later, the band now known as Mile End Thieves continues to write songs and play shows.

Mile End Thieves is a young and energetic cast. When they play on stage, they're doing more than showcasing their latest crop of tunes. They put on a show from start to finish and make the crowd a part of that experience. They are witty, humorous, over-flowing with sex appeal and sometimes they are showered.

Mile End Thieves is now actively looking for representation as well as: advice, comments, a conversation and tasty micro-breweries.
