"Mile High - #957 EP Review"

These fun-loving rockers have only been around since 2008, but they have already made quite the name for themselves here in New Zealand. Although they’re quick to inform readers that they ‘have no affiliation to the infamous club nor do they frequent aeroplane bathrooms’, I doubt that it will be long before this band is first to ‘pop up’ under the google search, Mile High.

If you do decide to give this theory a go later on, you’ll most likely find a few things...

1. The band has performed with the likes of The Earlybirds and Supermodel.

2. The lads got themselves a spot at this year’s Big Day Out.

3. They have a new EP out titled ‘#957’.

While the band admit that the EP comes as a result of ‘some long hours and hair pulling’, they’re also happy to report that ‘the result has been phenomenal!’. Personally, I think they’re right – especially with debut single turned radio hit, ‘Now’. You’ll know this catchy tune from many a radio station along with TV, and you know what? It was this very song performed on the 2009 Telethon that got me hooked on these guys in the first place! Imagine that?!

While each track on ‘#957’ is equally as catchy, they are all unique in their own right. ‘And Again’ is the first track out of four, which is delightfully poppy with a sprinkle of rock. Singer, Aditya Maharaj’s vocals are strong and easy on the ear making me wonder how many years experience he has behind him..? Maybe I should google that next...

The intro to ‘Big Fuzz’ shows off a slightly rockier side to the band along with hints of influencers, Queens of the Stone Age. With this under their belts, they’re sure to make more than a few fans out of this song. Next comes ‘Now’, followed by ‘Kansas’, and goddamn, it’s another catchy one! Filled with rock and lots of ‘hey!’s throughout, ‘Kansas’ will make a fabulous tune to rip into on a Friday night with a few beers in ya’.

‘#957’ is ridiculous. In a good way. In the way of wondering how these guys got so tight so quick. I reckon anyone who likes the idea of being uncontrollably dragged onto their feet to get their dancing shoes on will love this EP. It’s delectable in all the right places, and I can’t wait to catch these lads live. - Muzic.net.nz
