"Featured Track: Miles Goodall- Hold On"

“Two articles in a week?!? What’s happening?!? ”

Well, I thought I’d try something new and as Miles released single Hold On from his forthcoming EP Paintings (due in October) on Thursday, it seemed like the perfect time to feature the track so here we go:

As soon as the track starts, you are instantly hit with this dance pop vibe that Coldplay has recently adopted, blended nicely with some ambient guitars before you are introduced to Miles distinctively powerful voice which, if you have had the pleasure of seeing him live, is instantly recognizable and this sets up the song brilliantly. This power in Miles voice is displayed at it’s best nearer the end of the song, where he holds extended notes with impressive ease and this is something which shouldn’t be looked over. This leads me onto the chorus and OH MY DAYS! Since first hearing Hold On, I was instantly hooked by the chorus and I have not stopped singing it, it’s just the perfect singalong which feels like it’s been built for festivals and with Miles being set to play Bestival later on in the year, I have no doubt that he will win over the crowds if he carries on this way!

On another subject, you can really tell that every person involved has paid attention to detail on this track, with the builds fitting snugly into the songs structure and with the instruments layered and played in all the right places and I feel this shines through when listening to Hold On. Something else that stands out to me on this track are the harmonies. Just like the instruments, they are used in all right places and having them come in just before the second chorus was a fantastic choice as this just added to the beauty of the builds and structure that the song offers. It’s also an opportunity to show off what your voice has to offer which I believe Miles has done, hitting some higher notes to complement the main melody.

Overall, I feel this track has alot to offer and is one that I will have on repeat for weeks to come.

In support of the forthcoming EP, Miles is playing a show at The Hope and Ruin in Brighton on the 17th October as a part of a release party and if you are interested, follow the link to the event page: https://www.facebook.com/events/1194577947288273/

"Miles Goodall releases single ‘Hold On’"

With a recent appearance at Bestival, Liverpudlian Singer-songwriter Miles Goodall releases his anticipated single Hold On. The brand new single taken from his forthcoming E.P Paintings demonstrates Miles capability of writing an honest catchy heartfelt pop tune similar to the likes of Keane and Coldplay.

It is notable from the start that Miles’s smooth and silky vocals resemble similarities to the likes of Tom Chaplin. Whilst belting out the main hook of the song, ‘Hold On, Stay Strong’ Miles sustains a pure rounded tone. Not only is Miles a technical singer but a promising songwriter too. The hook in the chorus proves to be a predominant feature in Goodall’s songwriting skills and helps make ‘Hold On’ sound as anthemic as songs from Keane’s Hopes And Fears. It’s no wonder that the track has already been played on the likes of BBC introducing.

Miles is due to perform at The Hope and Ruin with his fellow Brighton based band on the 17th of October for his E.P launch. Details can be found below. - Cosmic Flo.

"New Music: Miles Goodall – Hold On"

The incredible amount of local music that’s produced is one of the things that really drove me to create this blog them 28 months ago. The fact that Brighton is still churning out artist after artist is simply mind blowing. Miles Goodall is the latest singer-songwriter throwing himself out there

“When I write songs I like to put myself in the position of characters that I create, in this case it’s the tale of two people torn apart by the circumstances they find themselves in. The song is basically my character trying to comfort the other and reassure them that it’ll all be over soon, and we’ll be back together and that we’re going to make it no matter what the cost..”

After seeing this guy perform at the start of the year it was evident that he had the raw talents to produce the anthemics he was aiming for. This single shows off that talent down to the last note. Driving guitar and chiming piano stand strong through a whirlwind of honest vocals as this track uplifts and gives away a smile..

Goodall’s forthcoming EP “Paintings” is due to release alongside a good old fashioned launch party at The Hope & Ruin in Brighton on October 17th. Be there. - Secret Scout
