Bio
Singer/songwriter Miles Fink assembled "The Revelators", a post-punk supergroup featuring Long Marley on trumpet and keyboards, Gio on drums, bassist Carlos A., and guitarist Dick Reinfeld. Fink explores his interests with death, love, religion and violence with a bizarre, sometimes self-consciously eclectic hybrid of blues, folk, rock, and post-punk. Fink also allowed his literary aspirations to come to the forefront; the lyrics are narrative prose, heavy on literary allusions and myth-making, and take some inspiration from Leonard Cohen. Fink’s gloomy lyrics, dark musical arrangements, and deep baritone voice recall the albums of Scott Walker, who also obsessed over death and love with a frightening passion. However, Fink brings a hefty amount of post-punk experimentation to Walker's epic dark pop.
The Band released their debut album,The Violent Years, in 2009, which contained a diverse selection of songs exploring love and violence ranging from primal, chaotic tunes such as “The Knife-Wielder” and “The Violent Years” to dark moody ballads such as “Romanian Bar Stop” and “Vitriol.” The songs in this album would not feel out of place in a Quentin Tarantino flick.
The band shows an effortless cool and grit on stage. Miles fink’s performance forces you to pay attention. There is a large element of mystique in his character and that of the band that is certainly lacking from today’s performers.
