Bio

John Sullivan:

John Sullivan is the one of the two founding memebers of Milestones, the other being bassist Ted Burik. John was born in New York City and started playing guitar at the age of 11. He has studied with many great guitarists like Bill Connors, Bruce Whitcomb, Brad Buethe, Steve Erquaiga and is currently with Ken Husbands. John first began playing rock and blues and eventually fell in love with playing jazz. He has played extensively in New York and the Bay Area and is currently the leader of Milestones.

Ted Burik:

Ted has performed jazz, blues, and classical music for over 30 years in New York, Los Angeles, Seattle, and the San Francisco Bay Area. While in New York, he studied and performed with Rick Petrone, bassist with Maynard Fergusons big band, and has studied and performed with Naim Satya in the Bay Area. In Seattles thriving jazz scene, he performed extensively with the Dave Anderson Quartet (Pony Boy Records), the Gilbert Garcia Group, and Black Lab Music. Today, Ted is quite busy performing throughout the Bay Area, performing modern and traditional jazz on both upright bass and electric fretted and fretless basses.

Doug Pet:

Doug Pet is a San Francisco-based saxophonist and composer who has led and performed with groups across the US, and internationally in Argentina and Austria. Born and raised in New Milford, Connecticut, Doug first sparked his love for jazz and improvisation studying with saxophone greats Scott Chamberlain and Dan Goble. In 2009, Doug completed a double-bachelors program at the New England Conservatory of Music and Tufts University, receiving degrees in Jazz Performance, Anthropology and Community Health. He has studied with such jazz icons as Jerry Bergonzi, Miguel Zenn, George Garzone, Don Braden, Allan Chase, Frank Carlberg, Rakalam Bob Moses and Cecil McBee.

Greg German:

Greg has been playing music in one form or another for most of his life. After years of playing tenor saxophone and guitar, he found his way to the drum set at the relatively "late" age of 23. He studied drums privately with Eddie Marshall, Pete Magadini and Alan Hall. He also credits much of what he knows to studying the work of drum masters such as Stewart Copeland, Neil Peart, Elvin Jones, Tony Williams and Roy Haynes. Over the last twenty plus years, he has been performing with SF Bay Area bands that run the spectrum from pop and rock to latin and brazilian and jazz in it's many varieties. He has recorded CDs with numerous groups including Sonic Ritual, Matchbox, Dankdemonius, The Splotch, Terrence Brewer, Vince Mansel, Makeshift Ensemble, The Blue & Tan, Michele Lane, Melvin Butts, Humanistic, Ben Stolorow, Oakland Jazz Choir, and Resonance Jazz. He has also performed with other distinguished artists such as Benny Rietveld (Miles Davis, Santana), the San Francisco Experimental Ensemble, Mingus Amungus, Fillmore Jazz Preservation Big Band, Dave Ellis, Marcos Silva, Stephanie Crawford, Muziki Roberson and Grassroots Composers' Workshop.
