"Herohill"

“[Civic Virtues] is quite enjoyable and polished for a debut effort … Thanks to some solid production/recording work from IFS keyboarder Dan Ledwell, the six songs really show a knack for hooks and intricate transitions … honestly, if you told me this EP was from a group of seasoned vets playing over seas, I wouldn't blink an eye … From my chair, it's not hard to picture tracks like ‘Motel Fire Drill’ booming over loud speakers at a Festival with happy fans singing along” - Bryan Acker

"East Coast Overture"

“From beginning to end, Civic Virtues is an indie pop fan's dream come true … ‘Heart's The Target’ is simply killer … This is one of those albums that should make it to your iPod—and not just one or two tracks. I can't wait to see (and hear!) what the Milks and Rectangles do next.” - Jillianne Hamilton

"Babysue.com (LMNOP) Review"

“We rarely review EPs, but when we do it means there's something kinda special going on … Civic Virtues is a nice, smooth spin featuring nifty pop tunes that sound something like a cross between The New Pornographers and The Kinks (more the former than the latter). The songs are presented simply without unnecessary ingredients getting in the way of the vocal melodies.” - Babysue.com

"North By East West Review"

“Q. What do you get if you mix the quirky-historical lyrical ingenuity of They Might Be Giants with the crazy infectious melodies of Franz Ferdinand? A. PEI band Milks and Rectangles … Civic Virtues is wrought with catchy, pop-tainted melodies with historic metaphors … Though upbeat, there's a depth and crunchiness to the music that makes it a little bit mysterious and a whole lot re-listenable” - Kate McKenna

"Indie Music Filter"

“I think the combination of band and song name [‘Slander Debunked’] made me have to hear what this sounds like. I dig it.” - Chris Budd

"[here] New Brunswick"

Those not interested in hearing snappy pop songs need not listen to Civic Virtues ...
Civic Virtues proves to be a promising start to a potentially fruitful career. - Ken Kelley

"On ['Heart's The Target' and “Slander Debunked'], it's awfully hard to listen to Civic Virtues and not feel as though you're listening to the next big thing from the East Coast."
— i(heart)music (“Slander Debunked” selected as #10 of 'Best songs of 2009')

"Milks & Rectangles' take on across-the-pond boomers is quite enjoyable and polished for a debut effort ... [I]f you told me this EP was from a group of seasoned vets playing overseas, I wouldn't blink an eye. "
