"Review of Solstice"

The guitar work is smooth, creamy and fluid while the rhythm section ebbs and flows beautifully on these well written compositions. With the release of Solstice, the Mill City Trio prove themselves to be one of the finest jazz groups on the Boston circuit today. Outstanding! - Douglas Sloan, Metronome Magazine

"Review of Solstice"

This combo can set toes tapping and, why, the band can be both lovable and exciting. The performances are always nuanced and the melodic credo nearly always occupies the forefront. - Francis DiMenno, The Noise

"The Mill City Trio Make Debut Splash at the Lily Pad"

On Saturday, the Mill City Trio filled the Lily Pad in Inman Square for their first CD release party. Latecomers found standing room only. The music was clearly well-rehearsed, with tight playing between guitar and bass. The trio's style had an easy feel: floating, yet not without direction, and with hints of Latin flavor. The audience loved it, and the Mill City Trio closed the house to enthusiastic applause. - Leah Driska, The Wellesley News

"Cover Story"

The Mill City Trio is not your typical garage band. In fact, they're not a rock and roll band at all. Their forte lies somewhere bewteen the jazz idiom and contemporary instrumental fusion that utilizes the intertwining dual guitar work of Jamie Dunphy and Greg Passler. Interject the inventive rhythms of drummer Anthony D'Anna, and the Mill City Trio create an effective original aura all their own while maintaining a jazz flavor. - Brian M. Owens, Metronome Magazine

Bio

Since its formation in 2005, the Boston-based Mill City Trio has been performing regularly in clubs, galleries and concert venues all over New England. The group is dedicated to the performance of original compositions, believing that modern jazz can be thought-provoking and adventurous without alienating the average listener. The band is currently performing in support of their debut CD, Solstice, released in March, 2006. The disc has been well-received by the press; a recent cover story in Metronome Magazine has helped the trio expand their horizons, booking additional performances in New York, New Jersey and Rhode Island.
