"IN BRIGHT LIGHTS"

Exclusive Interview

Tell us about where you are from and how you got to this position today?
I am from Roanoke Rapids, NC. I started my hip hop career back in 2008 when I went to a studio and a producer ask me did I rap and I said yeah so I got a pen & pad and went to work. I wrote my very first song called “that’s what it is” you can find the single on itunes!!!

Tell us more about the current song you are promoting to everyone?
“In bright lights”- is the single imp pushing off my up and coming mixtape hosted by dj envious styles bricksquad dj. The title means “no matter how u earn your money everybody likes to be fresh when they step out in them bright lights”.

What are you currently working on and what can we expect to see?
I am currently working on “in bright lights series”, upcoming video shoot for “in bright lights”, and more radio promotions. I am working on becoming the next sound wave of the North Carolina music era!

Tell us about one of the hardest challenges you had to face in the industry?
One of the hardest challenges, “I think every artist face is promotions & networking”. Acecityent the home for the best artist and musician management and promotion believed in me and my craft and acecityent really helping me get to the next level. I’ve learn in the hip hop world it so many janky promoters who will charge a new & upcoming artist a high fee to perform so I will say that’s the hardest challenge getting your name out there.

What was one of the biggest setbacks in your career and how did you bounce back?
One of my biggest setbacks was when I went to Miami to network & somebody stole my studio equipment. A minor setback for a major comeback. I wanted to quit but “I love the nature of the hip-hop business too much”.

What are some things artists need to be careful of?
Janky promoters and read the small fine print before you sign any contract. Always keep a good lawyer on speed dial just for helpful tips sometimes remember hip hop is a risky business. Finally, just don’t focus on the artist side of things learn the business and grow!

What suggestions do you have for other artists like yourself?
Grind hard never take no for an answer if music is what u believe in & put god first. Successes don’t happen overnight!

What are the best ways to sell your products as an artist?
Independent out the trunk, itunes, and reverbnation.

What is one of your favorite ways to promote yourself and your music?
Social networks. - WWS MAGAZINE
