"Million Kids"

"MILLION KIDS is a loud abrasive trio from Redondo Beach whose EP, ARRIVALS DEPARTING FLIGHTS, is as infectiously snotty as swine flu. This disc gets very high marks for brash catchiness. "Starchrusher" and "Quint" have picked up airplay on KXLU and if this outfit fais to break huge, it's all your fault. Avoid a lifelong guilt trip at www.millionkids.com or 310-570-7326." - Ron Garmon , Mean Street Magazine Feb/2001 - Meanstreet Magazine (Los Angeles)

Bio

Bio ~ Fall 2008:

A lone guitar jangles the opening riff to their song BOOM GOES THE BOMB...beat of silence... the full band drop into it's fuzzed out, bottom end, noise punk pop rock-n-roll flavor. Taking heed from greats like the STOOGES and SONIC YOUTH, and mixing it with spices from SMASHING PUMPKINS, X, PIXIES and FUGAZI . then it putting into a easy bake post-punk oven.

Million Kids members Kim Masters (bass, vocals), Matt Irwin (drums) and BC Caldwell (guitar, vocals) have smashed together their blend of Californian sonics, to get a solid 3 piece project with a strong DIY philosophy.

About to officially release their EP SATELLITE SESSIONS: The Gummo Files this December. This is after it's unmastered demo version has been circulating through the LA underground for months. Recently they made the top ten @ KXLU 88.9 fm Los Angeles with their song "Turn It On", and picked up an endorsement from Knucklehead Strings and received radio play in Greece, on one of their national radio channels. They have been lucky enough to share the stage with Youth Brigade, The Faint, Lou Barlow, The Warlocks, Ted Leo Pharmacists, Chokebore, Devics, Camera Obscura, Black Pine, Broadway Calls, The Gears, Rosemary's Billygoat, Bourbon Saints, Rolling Blackouts, Thee Spectors, Ninja Academy, Drive A, The Health Club, Soccermom, Crash Moderns, Studiofix, Whirling Dervish, D-Strutters, Murderland, Ex-Paladin, SoccerMom, Disguster, Epic Debauchery, Kamikaze, The Bombs, The Beeters, Victim Vision, Pocket Rockets and many other great local bands.

They received airplay on KCRW and KXLU on their last release ARRIVALS DEPARTING FLIGHTS back in 2001 and toured the west coast building their fan-base until the beginning of their hiatus in 2002. Now they are out there doing it again, planning trips up to Seattle and back, and also looking towards a possible european venture next year. They have played a lot of the Los Angeles area venues: Spaceland, The Roxy, The Troubadour, The Knitting Factory, Silverlake Lounge, The Derby, Venice Rocks, The Cat Club, Mr. T's Bowl, The Airliner, American Legion Hall, Koo's Cafe, Charlie O's, Casbah (San Diego), Double Down (Las Vegas), King Neptune's (OC), Suzy's Bar & Grill (Hermosa Beach), Fern's (Long Beach) and many more. They are currently recording their new collection of songs, to be released later this year.

"Million Kids is a Redondo Beach post punk trio with a busy schedule. The band is about to enter the studio to record some new material and has a long series of shows booked in the LA area. Make sure you check them out live on 03.21 at Fern's in Long Beach or at 14 Below in Santa Monica on 03.29. The sound of their material ranges from droney and spacey tracks full of a nonchalant attitude a la Sonic Youth (Turn it on) to more classic rock'n'roll and punk episodes. Recommended to those who need a daily dose of noisy guitars" - The Deli Magazine / LA

"A well integrated trio, nice vibrant sound and pleasing to the eye in that basic hard rock way. Strong points, BC Caldwell, good guitar technique (well placed effects through out), nice clear lyrics (as heard on their EP), nice improv jazzy drums from Matt Irwin along with Kim Masters who handles a bass twice her size and stabilizes all that goes on. To be honest I was tainted. I saw the show before I heard their CD. To their credit they give the people their moneys worth. The group blends well on stage especially that sultry bass. They will spend the month in studio finishing a full CD. This Saturday, Dec. 6th, theyre playing in West LA at the Good Hurt. They will return to Mr.Ts on Sat. Dec. 27th. I suggest a good time to be had by all. What some people wont do for sushi! Contact:millionkids@millionkids.com or myspace: millionkids or 310/5701-7326" ~ Steve Estrada, The Boulevard Sentinel
