Bio

Milow the Girl AKA (Sylvia) has led a remarkable life. Born in Switzerland to a businessman Father and international model mother, she was raised surrounded by baby lions, elephants, chimpanzees and a menagerie of exotic wildlife. Her earliest memories at the age of four years were of her best friends, not neighborhood kids, but leopard cubs, wolves and other assorted playmates.

MTG's interest in music started at an early age, as her parents often gave parties where renowned artists and family friends would give impromptu performances. She knew what her future would hold, all of her favorite things: music, entertainment and conservation of wildlife.

Although surrounded by music, her involvement in the medium came later in life. It started in 1998 when her song "Waking Up "received the award for best dance track at a USA songwriting contest . The award helped her to garner attention with charting radio singles and performing in esteemed venues throughout US, Europe and Asia including the Montreux Jazz Festival (Switzerland), the Shanghai International Music Festival (China), Le Reservoir Club (Paris), Unicity Performing Arts Festival (Maryland), the world-famous Whiskey A Go-Go and The Key Club (Los Angeles, CA). In 2009, Milow the Girl received the award of Best European Singer at the LA Music Awards . The buzz within the industry caught the attention of US-based label Realize Records and within a few months Milow the Girl was signed to the label and a promising collaboration was at hand.

In January 2012, "32,000 Feet Above" was released on Realize Records. The CD's title lends itself to the fact that all of the lyrics for the songs were written on flights back and forth between the United States and Europe. The project was recorded in Nashville and Los Angeles with the redoubtable award winning producer Robert Venable (former Evanescence drummer and producer of Megadeth, Scott Stapp, INXS) Of the collaboration Venable says, “This album showcases so much talent, and her ability to sing everything from a radio-pop dance track to a breathtaking ballad. She brings a vibe into the room that captivates and enchants immediately. It was such an amazing session and everyone involved left the studio knowing that they were just a part of making a stunning record.” The CD also features musicians Kendra Chantelle (American Idol) Thad Beaty (Beyonce, Sugarland) and Lester Estelle Jr. (Neil McCoy, Pillar) and New York City Rapper Kuf Knotz. The varied influences of an artist who has been traveling and relocating all over the world since she was young, fluently speaks six languages, sings in four, and continues to learn more, can be heard in the music itself. Milow the Girl states, "This album has several layers to it, it is about learning to let go. It’s about loss and feeling scared, realizing that you have loved the wrong person and did not walk away when you should have and wanted to. Another facet is about hope, love and the strength we all have in us.” All the songs tell a story, it’s like a book with different chapters. We all go through things in life bad and good, in the end remains a song, music is a universal language.” The album is an eclectic mix of rock, groove, and jazzy/blues melodies married to profound lyrics that MTG says. “are straight from the heart, during the writing and recording of the album, I was going through a difficult transition in my life. Upon listening to the tracks, I feel that the album acted as a catharsis for me.”

Currently the music video for the first single off of the recording "Sad & Wild" which was directed by famed Los Angeles photographer James Hickey was picked up by numerous channels such as MTV Latin, Eye Music, Power Play and Video Nite. The video continues to receive steadily growing views on Youtube. She has just completed a successful unplugged tour of the US, wrapped the next music video "Beautiful World" and is seeing increasing spins on radio in the states. In addition, the CD will serve as the soundtrack to an upcoming feature film by Unicity Productions, scheduled to begin filming in 2013 and is preparing to perform in Europe with international musician/producer Nick Shires.

In addition to her passion for music, the socially conscious artist works alongside nonprofits such as Soi Dogs and Humane Society of the United States to protect animal rights, fostering and the environment. Milow the Girl says, “I have been blessed to be surrounded by animals all my life. I find it so important to live in harmony with nature; it should be our primary concern to live and respect all that surrounds us. If each of us thought about the consequences of our actions and took the time to change one little thing...what a difference this would make.”
