Mit ihrem in Paris aufgenommenen Debüt „Taranta“ (Believe/Indigo) kommt die 28-Jährige – wen wundert´s – noch nicht ganz an die großen Vorbilder heran, zu denen neben Feist auch Chan Marshall alias Cat Power gehört. „Mein erster Song war eine Anlehnung an ihre Kompositionen“, gibt Tindle unumwunden zu.
Wie Cat Power hält sie seitdem Abstand vom Mainstream-Pop und wagt sehr persönliche, intime, manchmal leicht versponnene Lieder, die sie überwiegend auf Englisch, aber auch auf Französisch („Pan“, „Demain“) oder Spanisch singt.
Mit klassischem Franko-Chanson haben die 14 „Taranta“-Songs also nichts zu tun. Man hört der Produktion von Tindle und ihrem Mitstreiter JP Nataf vielmehr amerikanische Indiepop-Einflüsse an. Zumal Mina eine Zeitlang in Brooklyn lebte und dort mit der US-Alternative-Rockszene in Berührung kam. Das Ergebnis war die französisch-amerikanische Band The Limes – bis sich die junge Künstlerin in Frankreich endgültig auf eine Profi-Karriere einließ.
„Taranta“ ist nun eine beachtliche Talentprobe. Vor allem der Opener „Bells“ bezaubert mit einer charmanten Spieluhrenmelodie und dieser etwas heiseren, sinnlichen Stimme. Das anschließende „To Carry Many Small Things“ ist unwiderstehlich treibender Sommer-Pop in Feist-Manier, der von Bläsern und Steeldrums veredelt wird. Nicht nur in diesen Songs ist Mina Tindle der Mut, trotz mädchenhafter Ausstrahlung keinen Lolita-Pop zu produzieren, hoch anzurechnen. - Focus.de

Mina Tindle is a young Parisian musician who, over the last few years, has lent her voice to a wide range of different musical projects. For example, she has sung with The National on Boxer, with J.P. Nataf on Claire, and with Toy
Fight on Peplum. Gaetan Roussel invited her to sing Talking Heads songs with him on Taratata, She worked with Sergio Dias from Os Mutantes and the Palmtree Family to recreate the rich vocal harmonies of Vinicius de Moraes and Baden Powell.
As an interpereter of other people's songs, the timbre of her voice and her depth of feeling are qualities she shares with Nico and Nina Simone. As a composer and songwriter, she follows her own path, taking her time, revealing her songs in concert appearances and when she chooses to, on the internet. In this folk music all her own we hear echoes of the dialogue exchanged between Robert Johnson and the devil. And the echoes continue, coming from all the places where she has put down her suitcase in the last few years: from Texas and Andalusia, from North Carolina and from Normandy, landscapes where the phantoms of the past dance with the ghosts of the future. Alone with her guitar or accompaning herself on the keyboard, Mina Tindle sings with a power that reveals the many ways a soul can be haunted.
Situated somewhere between Karen Dalton, Caetano Veloso and Dirty Projectors, these songs will soon be available on her first album, recorded at
Studio Garage under the watchful eye of J.P. Nataf. Her first EP is coming out on October 3rd, then in the spring of 2012 will appear her first album.
