Bio

Every rock musician has one common goal to live the dream. Though that phrase manifests in many different ways from one mind to the next, the dream often shares similar ideas; sold out crowds, world tours, and freedom that comes with those experiences. Most people are never lucky enough to see the fruits of their labors pay off, but for one Toledo musician, since the time Dean Tartaglia started with his band Mind Fish that dream that he has been working for years now became a reality this past year.
In a one in a million shot, Dean spent the summer as a side man playing sax on tour with pop-culture icon Jack Black and his band Tenacious D. Adding to the over 200 shows he has already played at the young age of 22, Dean also played 80 dates this year, circling across the US twice, at milestone venues including the Ryman Auditorium and the Red Rocks Amphitheater, and the Sasquatch music fest along with Beck, Fun and Bon Iver, playing 7 countries in Europe, all for over 100,000 people And now for the time being, he is bringing his talents back to Toledo Ohio.
Instead of waiting for someone else to hand him the next opportunity or call NY or LA his new home, Dean is in Toledo give back to his community. In a city on the cusp of urban revitalization, a community is reassembling in the once abandoned uptown and downtown areas. Mind Fish is working hard to be the driving force to bring nightlife back to the city. The group owes their success to the support from the Toledo music scene that helped him connect with all the major players who made the stars align.
Leading up to Deans big break, Mind Fish was no stranger to success in their own right. For almost 4 years now they have released multiple EPs and full-length studio albums, toured the Midwest and the East coast nearly a dozen times, and have played nearly 200 shows, many along side their pop icons, including Fitz and The Tantrums, Julia Nunes and Walk The Moon. They have also made headlines in local and major press outlets including album reviews in nearly half a dozen countries, and features for their Cant Control At All music video, on the major music websites, Baeble Music and Artist Direct.

Mind Fishs sound is self-proclaimed as Art Pop melding all decades of pop music as far back as the Beatles and The Kinks while also encompassing the sleek sounds of Prince and MJ. But as students of pop, rock and soul history and proprietors of the new school of pop, there is definitely a secret ingredient added, resulting in a sound and live show that their own. Its as if the band took your favorite parts of explosive, dance rock bands such as OK GO or Fun and actually managed to up the excitement quota, without ever pushing past the point of pure, joyous indie pop.

The X-factor that Mind Fish brings to the table is just the start of an already successful career. And its not simply that Mind Fish is time tested, rather it is that Mind Fish understands self assurance. The biggest lessons learned are knowing what are really worth fighting for as a musician and the confidence to chance after the dream. Every musician has a homecoming; its what they do with their momentum once they return that matters. Mind Fish is ready to make a name for themselves and take their city along for the ride.
