Bio

Mindwaves is a five piece band in Charlottetown PEI on the fast track to success. They have been able to develop a signature sound but their music covers a lot of territory, ranging from up-tempo wailing guitars to sensitive, lyric driven landscapes. A classically trained pianist and jazz trained bassist contribute to a creative energy high on sincerity and high on ambition. With their ages nearly spanning a decade each member would proudly site different influences, but their genre falls under experimental rock and the band is most often compared to Pink Floyd or Radiohead. Comparisons which are not taken lightly.

Jamie Crawford (guitar/vox) and Jeff Proud (drums) began jamming with James Wonnacott (piano) and Adam Warren (guitar/vox) in early 2011 and there was a spark. Since being joined by Simon Joseph (bass) in May, 2011, Mindwaves has played thirteen shows in a competitive Charlottetown summer scene. These boys understand the effort necessary to perform at a high level; and they thrive on it.

Over the course of the summer Mindwaves has poured their earnings into a band owned PA system. Their sights (and savings) are currently set on a smoke machine and high end lighting equipment. They understand that as musicians, they are performers, and they are hired to put on a show. Individually, this summer alone, they’ve purchased a Roland Synthesizer, new cymbols, a keyboard amp, and their bass player (production major @ Selkirk College 2011, graduating w/ honors) has built a Focusrite powered home studio, in which the band is currently recording their debut album. While the album is in it’s early stages, the band is hopeful it will be sent away for mastering in the spring of 2012 and available for summer.
