Bio

Coming from a large family with various musical tastes and influences, Mindy Gordon grew up listening to everything from classic rock and Top 40 pop to jazz and Big Band music. When she made her performance debut at age three singing “You Light Up My Life” that it was clear that she would make music her life in some way or another. In high school, she performed in musicals and sang with a local jazz and swing band that toured throughout the Southeastern U.S. Mindy also toured Europe for two summers as a chorister and soloist with the Sound of America Honor Band and Chorus.

When she moved to New York City after college, she joined the New York Choral Society and performed with the group with such artists as Peter Paul & Mary and Andrea Bocelli and at venues including Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center and the Bronx Zoo during its Holiday Lights festival. After a few seasons, she moved on to join a co-ed acappella group called Vocal Heights, with whom she still performs, and eventually became its co-director and lead soprano.

Inspired by influential singer-songwriters such as Joni Mitchell, Laura Nyro, Carly Simon and Neil Young, as well as today’s artists including Dar Williams, Norah Jones and Ari Hest, Mindy demonstrates her sweet soprano register with a cool, bluesy tinge in her interpretations of songs popularized by Linda Ronstadt, Sarah McLachlan and Carole King on her self-titled demo EP. She will soon debut some of her own songs including “Comfort Zone” and “A Part of Your World”. Mindy also performs with her duet partner, Erik Levitt, with whom she sings ballad versions of hard rock songs in tight, powerful harmonies, as well as original material.
