"Armed Foces Entertainment"

"Mindy McQ brings warm, lush vocals and a classic R&B sound to her show — and the total package is a mesmerizing experience," says Frank Tagatac, Armed Forces Entertainment Pacific Circuit and Regional Manager. "Her combination of R&B, soul, funk and jazz will have the troops getting into her groove in no time." - Frank Tagatac

"Cleveland Scene"

"Seems like every time we check -- and we check whenever we can -- Mindy McQ develops a little more soul. She claims she grew up on a farm in Ohio, but apparently she spent way more time listening to Sade and Aretha Franklin records than she did baling hay." Visit her at myspace.com/mindymcq - D.X. Bio

Listening to Mindy McQs warm, silky vocals and well-crafted songs puts a listener in mind of Harlem, Detroit, Chicago or Philadelphia, harking back to the classic soul tracks of the 1950s, 60s and 70s. One would never dream that these songs and that voice, so sultry and knowing, are the product of a shy, lanky 23-year-old from rural Ohio, who never thought of doing music until graduating from high school. But they are. Mindy is not an artist who has been doing this as long as she can remember, or as soon as she could talk. In fact, her first love was gymnastics. But after twelve years of dedication and competition, she found that what she really loved about the sport was the art of performance and the mental struggle of finding her limits, and creating music was all of that and more. She began writing and performing within months. Initially more folk-oriented, she quickly found herself gravitating to a melding of classic soul, funk and jazz, developing a style that contains elements of such performers as Alicia Keys, Nora Jones and Jill Scott. Mindy has just returned from her first overseas tour with Armed Forces Entertainment where she entertained our troops in Japan, South Korea, Singapore and Diego Garcia. She has been blessed to perform with artists such as Mary J. Blige, Robert Lockwood Jr., Suzanne Vega, Alana Davis, Melinda Doolittle, Marc Broussard... etc. Her first full-length album was completed in February of 2006, and she is currently working on finishing her new EP, due out by March 2008.
