Bio
Miners Creek Bluegrass Band is the result of a wife asking her husband to get himself a hobby, and instead of puttering around in the garage, say, building a canoe, the husband proclaims that he wants to learn the banjo. And then he goes off to banjo camp and comes home and says, Honey, youve gotta learn how to play bluegrass music! Such was the case with singer/songwriter/guitar player Resa Randolph and her husband, Whitney.
Eventually they were joined by mandolin player/singer/songwriter Jesse McWilliams and claw-hammer banjo player Peter Proeller, before recruiting their songwriting daughter, Emily Randolph to play the bass.
The final result is a newer, fresher approach to traditional bluegrass music. Playing mostly original songs, Miners Creeks distinctive sound is created using a combination of traditional bluegrass, folk and Appalachian and with a bit of Latin influences thrown in for good measure. The band, following the belief that you cant have too many banjos, blends Scruggs style and clawhammer banjo to produce a unique sound rarely heard or seen on stage.
Miners Creek derives its name from a hiking trail in Colorado since all five band members have at some point lived in that state and they wanted to pay homage to the Colorado connection.
