Mini Pony

 Austin, Texas, USA
BandRockClassic Rock

We play rock'n'roll the same way we enjoy listening to it: loud, fun, and without pretense.

Biography

Walker (guitar, vocals) and Robert (bass) met while building houses, and realized rather early on they would rather play music. They filled out the band with Josh (lead guitar) and Ross (drums) and Mini Pony was born, turning a roach infested garage into a roach infested garage/practice space.

While the sound is diverse, incorporating elements of psych, country, funk, and garage, the lyrics contain a distinct voice and storytelling quality more typically associated with folk and blues. In spite of its four polite and mild mannered members, Mini Pony kicks like a mule.

Lyrics

Black Heart Texas Blues

Written By: Walker Pickens

I bet you think that I regret the way things happened 'tween us two,
I bet you think I'm pining over you,
Yes I do, yes I do, but it don't matter much to you,
I'm gonna wallow in these black heart Texas blues.

Balmorhea to Beaumont and I been to Big Spring too,
Just searching for the words to say to you,
Yes it's true, yes it's true, but it don't matter now we're through,
I'm gunna wallow in these black heart Texas blues.

Drag my carcass through the desert, leave me battered black and blue,
Like you done to every man you ever knew,
It's all you, it's all you, and I can't change the things you do,
I'm gonna wallow in these black heart Texas blues.

Well, serve me up a big ole heapin' plate of lonesome stew,
I only have an appetite for you,
Wind my way down through Waxahatchie, work the oil fields till I'm through,
I'm gonna wallow in these black heart Texas blues-
I'm gonna wallow in these black heart Texas blues.
