Her Life/Her Music

The dynamic, gifted and exceptionally talented Rhonda Belt is innovative, elegant, and a highly-anointed servant of God. Specifically, she is a phenomenal vocalist, awesome psalmist and prolific lyricist. However, her talents do not stop there -- she is also a remarkable Director of Music, music teacher, actress, worshiper and Worship Leader. Rhonda also holds elite recognition in the areas of counseling and as a Music and Performing Arts Director. She is also a native Washingtonian.

Notably, music is not foreign to Rhonda because she was born with an intrinsic melodic distinctive. In fact, she celebrates a compelling “heritage of music” conveyed from her mother, Shirley M. K. Berkeley, Minister of Music, for the First Baptist Church of Glenarden. Furthermore, her father diligently and influentially serves as a “Deacon and Pillar” for Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church, Washington, DC. Admirably, “leadership” is all in the family for Rhonda. Notwithstanding, her brother, the Rev. William Berkeley, Jr., serves as the Youth Pastor for the First Baptist Church of Glenarden, Maryland.

Dates of birth are of extreme significance to Rhonda. In fact, “June 21, 1973” will be forever sketched in Rhonda’s spirit. It is the date that she was born again under the dynamic ministry and leadership of Pastor Mary Tilghman, Pastor of Agape Bible Fellowship, Fairmont Heights, Maryland.

Rhonda is currently the Director of Music at Evangel Cathedral, Upper Marlboro, Maryland where Bishop Don Meares is Senior Pastor. She has been a member of Evangel Cathedral for more than 20 years. Formerly, she served as Minister of Music at Redeemed Church International where the dynamic Bishop Anderson is overseer.

Rhonda has been a member of the DC Chapter of the Gospel Music Workshop of America (DCGMWA) since 1971. She was in charge of the Youth Ministry for two years. Currently, she served as the Music Director of the Prince Georges’ Chapter of the Gospel Music Workshop of America (GMWA).

Rhonda is an entrepreneur specializing in Desktop Publishing (Beltway Productions). She is the very lovely wife of Msgt. Dana Belt and they are the proud parents of six children.

Rhonda’s educational background exemplifies her steadfast commitment to excellence. She attended McKinley Technical High School, Armstrong Trade School, Calvinade Beauty Academy, Central Bible School and Evangel Cathedral Bible School. Other educational pursuits include Computer Training with HardCopy Association Images, Inc.

Theatrically, Rhonda has also brilliantly performed as musical and dramatic characters in“Scrooge,” “Hope Restored,” “Christmas Celebration,” “The Bride,” “Charity Church Mouse,” “The Upper Room,” and “Run & Tell It,” a Broadway musical.

Unquestionably, Rhonda has been called to a higher dimension in the Lord to do even greater works for the Kingdom of God. The Scriptures explicitly states that “to whom much is given, much is required.” Surely, Rhonda has accepted the higher calling by being “Chosen to Change The Atmosphere/Volume One,” the title of her debut CD project.

Rhonda’s repertoire of performances are quite extraordinary. While taking a quick glance at her remarkably impressive performance credits one will readily see her commitment to music. She has performed with some of the gospel industry’s legendary artists such as Wintley Phipps, El Shaddai, D.C. Chapter of G.M.W.A., Henry Davis & Co., Jeremiah Murphy & Judah, Bernard Mavritte & The Tabernacle Echoes. In addition, she magnificently performed with the late Donald Vails & Salvation Corporation. She has also splendidly performed as a background singer for distinguished gospel artists such as Tramaine Hawkins, Viola Bradford, Twinkie Clark, El Shaddai, Willie B. Allen & Co., Carlton Burgess & Co., Exodus I, John P. Kee, Agape, Women of Gospel, Daryl Coley, just to name a few.

Thus, the “Gospel Industry” salutes its newest star, the unforgettable, remarkably-anointed and magnificent songstress Rhonda Belt. Thousands have been waiting and waiting for Rhonda’s compelling debut CD project. At last, your wait is over, “Chosen To Change The Atmosphere/Volume One” is finally completed. This awesome project is produced and arranged by the prolific and profoundly skilled Christopher Johns. This project is destined to “Change The Atmosphere” of numerous souls. Her season has come and this project is going to reap a bountiful harvest and bless innumerable hearts and lives.

Rhonda’s vocals exudes a smooth sophistication and yet an earthiness that echoes awe-inspiring melodies. This sensational gospel project features various genres of gospel music -- traditional, contemporary fla
