Biography

Redefining the shape of new music, Ministry of Zen takes their cues from decades of great hard rock music while infusing modern radio rock influences to produce something undeniably fresh. This dynamic project writes nothing but guitar-driven, melodic songs that get fans singing along even when they don’t know the words. The Band’s “real rock” sound is enhanced with rich, full harmonies and is rife with both vocal and instrumental hooks. Ministry of Zen is a band that cannot be ignored!

Lead by the powerful and range-less vocals of front man Doug Robb (recognized as being among Canada’s premier vocalists) song lyrics tell real life stories that resonate strongly with rock music lovers. Add to that a rock solid rhythm section (Shane Giofu) and a guitar punch in the chops like no other (Bob Howse) and it's easy to see why their fans believe they have the "it" factor.

Committed to capturing their live sound with their recorded product, Ministry of Zen entered Mole Studios engaging the visionary mind of Producer/Engineer Rainer Weichman. Some 6 months later, MOZ emerged with the results they had been hoping for. Their debut album “Unanalyzed” was complete. Said Robb “We went into this whole process wanting to capture our live sound and we are extremely pleased with what we got. So many bands today use fill in musicians, samples and other gimmicks that leave fans disappointed when the live music doesn’t come close and we just aren’t about that”. What you hear and what you see is exactly what you get with Ministry of Zen; inspired music you can really rock out to.

Ministry of Zen is now on a collision course with destiny as they bring their MASSIVE LIVE SHOW to ever further reaching markets. After touring the country multiple times, having a Canada wide radio release and various high profile showcases the band's fans know they can be counted on to deliver anywhere they go. MOZ has never met a stage it hasn’t owned supporting Name Artists such as Alanna Myles, Collective Soul, David Wilcox, Edwin and The Pressure, Gin Blossoms, Helix, Honeymoon Suite,I Mother Earth, Our Lady Peace, Pat Benatar, Rick Emmett, The Killer Dwarfs, and Sven Gali to name a few.

MOZ has a simple philosophy to both their music and live performance; Fans First! Always.!

Anthem
Music and Lyrics - Doug Robb

VERSE 1 Trust peace in someone else’s hands
Do you think that you could even stand
I got five bucks says that you can’t interfere
Somehow your conscience enters here

CHORUS: I Believe
Got a chance to free your mind
Open your eyes and find
I Believe
Got a chance to free your mind
Open your eyes and find

VERSE 2 Resist to undermine your friend
All great reigns will come onto an end
I got five bucks says that you can’t interfere
Somewhere revolution enters here
CHORUS:
Guitar Solo

It will find a way

WastesAway

Written By: Young, Robb

Wastes Away

I didn’t give you any time, anytime to walk away
You stood there quite dumbfounded, by what I had to say
I didn’t mean to treat you bad, but I did it anyway
So there we stand, so it wastes away

CHORUS:
And so you think you’ve
Cut me down to size
And it wastes away

I never find what I’m looking for, maybe anything will do
Maybe even you
You know I don’t always mean, all those hurtful things I say
And it doesn’t bold well for you

CHORUS:
Guitar Solo
CHORUS:
Well it wastes away
VERSE 1
CHORUS:
Well it wastes away
You know I don’t always mean, all those hurtful things I say
So as it stands, so it wastes away

Lift

Lift
Lyrics Doug Robb

You lift me, and you free me
You inspire me, ya, you inspire me

Lost in a world that’s not my own
Convincing myself I’m not losing ground
I can feel you surrounding me
And it takes me, to where I should be

CHORUS: You lift me, and you free me
To be better than I am
You inspire me, ya you inspire me
To be better than I am
Somehow you found a way inside
Found a place that I can’t hide
I can feel you surrounding me
And you take me, to where I should be
CHORUS:
Oh yes I am
Guitar Solo
CHORUS:
Oh yes I am, oooo
