BandBluesBluegrass

Though their name suggests that they are a blues band, these guys are more than that. Their unique sound is a marriage of Southern rock and blues that makes you want to get up and move to the beat.

Biography

Minivan Blues Band plays an eclectic blend of honest music - bluesgrass, folk, rock, acoustic, jazz, and more. Think Lester Flatt and Mississippi John Hurt strolling down Tin Pan Alley together, or Hot Tuna with Jimmy Garrison on bass. The band started with Joe Schicke and James Ray jamming together in their precious and rare spare time in the University area of Memphis, TN. Old friend Jonathan Ciaramitaro began to bring his mandolin over to the house, Paul Buchignani joined on djembe, and JD Westmoreland filled out the band on upright bass. Everyone sings and writes songs. The simple origins of the band have helped to forge an original Memphis sound. The band has earned a dedicated and loyal following with regular nights at Memphis musical institution, Newby's on the Highland Strip. Delivering heartfelt tunes played with musical virtuosity, they've kept crowds coming back week after week.
