Rough Translation:
It's appropriate since I just published "Modern Psychedelia" playlist that I would encounter this fabulous EP from Mirador aka Kyle Robinson (guitar) and Laura Chang (keys). They have another similar release, Chapel, also available from bandcamp. You will find a short explanation for each track from Verdant, and I think this one sums it all up very well: "ode to the mysterious beings who emerge from the forest at night to play music and sing and dance, then vanish at sunrise." A big favorite is (the track) "Cascadas", 13 minutes of soft, tropical psychedelia. - Le Choix (France)
Mirador - Dance of the Lantern People
I just got sent over some tracks by Philadelphia based experimental/post-rock duo Mirador. The duo are intensely psychedelic in places, matching dark compositions with a selection of different samples.
You can download the ‘Verdant’ EP over at the duos Bandcamp. Watch out for Mirador’s debut LP, to be released early next year. - Shore Patrol (tumblr)
The sun is almost down. I hear the band getting ready. Stories of the band who play only for creatures of the night had traveled far, eventually to our own ears. I immediately knew I had to hear it. I never expected that the creatures were as real as the music. They didn't mind our presence as they scuttled up and down the trees, grabbing more fruit with every trip. Never before had I seen such beauty shrouded in shadows. - Get Off The Coast, Jheri Evans
Whoa. A word all too familiar to me now because I said it every time I finished a song off of this new Mirador EP. Especially the first track, Dance of the Lantern People. Mirador’s sample-based, carefully-crafted psychedelia takes you on a trip brimming with never-fulfilled apprehension; a suspenseful story. Guitarist Kyle Robinson and keyboardist Laura Chang have released two EPs under the name Mirador, and you can download them both at their bandcamp! See you there. - Zen Tapes, Tom Auty

The signal rising above the noise this morning is the Verdant EP, by Mirador, a clever, wandering duo from Philadelphia. Two 2010 EPs are loaded onto Bandcamp: stream the more recent of the two right here:
Album opener “Dance of the Lantern People” is our favorite track, what with its unrelenting and tribal, killing-me-softly drum beat, muffler/metronome synthesizer lick, stormcloud rhythm section, and terrific liner note: “Ode to the mysterious beings who emerge from the forest at night to play music and sing and dance, then vanish at sunrise.”
“Cascadas” is self-reviewed: “Dubby and ambient, lush and visual, constantly evolving.” We would have said “restless and textured,” but hey, they’re the experts. Give it a look at the links below, then, if you’re satiated, part with a greenback or two. - The Muse in Music
Some trippy shit’s goin’ down at The Fire tonight. Mirador is coming in like apparitions from a buried past, chiseling through the grime of everyday life as they build soundscapes with ebbing piano drops, echoing guitar lines and atmospheric samples. Dreamy and somewhat ominous - they still manage to find sci-fi type grooves. Chillwave? Definitely. The Fire, 412 W. Girard Ave., $7, 9pm, 21+ - Katie Bennett - The Deli Philadelphia
Hailing from Philadelphia, Mirador is a mainly electronic musical project engineering darker pieces of audio that swirl, float, and saw through air. I choose to believe the first song on the Chapel EP is about Luigi’s Mansion, and the second song, “Trees,” doesn’t sound anything like the original Rush tune. What’s going on?
You can find the whole EP streaming here. - An Uncontrollable Urge

Bio
Mirador look to discover new possibilities and claim new territory in the realms of both popular and experimental music. Combining the limitless instrumental palate of electronic music (computers and samplers) with live guitar and synth playing, Mirador build intricate worlds of sound for the listener to explore.
The goal of the project is perhaps to marry the melodic hooks of their pop influences to the ambience and atmosphere of more experimental acts. This would place their ambitions along the same path as some of their favorite bands: The Cure, Mike Oldfield, The Orb, Sigur Ros, Gang Gang Dance, Black Moth Super Rainbow, to name only a few. But Mirador undeniably have their own approach towards this goal, meaning the results don't immediately recall any of these influences in particular, or anyone else, for that matter.
But what does it sound like? We'll let some of our fans describe:
"Never before had I seen such beauty shrouded in shadows." -Get Off The Coast
"Mirador’s sample-based, carefully-crafted psychedelia takes you on a trip brimming with never-fulfilled apprehension; a suspenseful story." -Zen Tapes
"Coming in like apparitions from a buried past, chiseling through the grime of everyday life as they build soundscapes with ebbing piano drops, echoing guitar lines and atmospheric samples. Dreamy and somewhat ominous - they still manage to find sci-fi type grooves." -The Deli Philadelphia (music blog)
Mirador carry the singularity of their music into their live performance. Not wanting to subject their audience to watching people turn sampler knobs or mouse around a laptop screen, the band uses loop pedals and live instruments to build their songs from the ground up. The result is a show that appeals to fans of both electronic and rock music, without settling exclusively for either one.
