Bio
Miranda Ceara Rix-Hayes is a vivacious 28-year old performer with what some might call “an old soul”. Equipped with a banjo, slide guitar and fiddle, she shares haunting stories and songs with her uniquely soaring voice and dynamic, almost mesmerizing stage presence. Hailing from Canada, Miranda has spent her life since childhood mastering a variety of disciplines in the performing arts. Her pursuits in contemporary dance led her to The Netherlands, where she studied, worked, performed and formed an all-female musical trio The Mourning Glories. This “Close-Harmony” Jazz and Country-Blues group boasts of having delighted audiences across Europe and the UK. They have performed at many notable festivals across the continent and shared the bill with such headliners as, Nick Cave, Leon Bridges, and Queens of the Stoneage and have had the privilege of recording with The Hackensaw Boys. They have appeared multiple times on the BBC and on various Dutch television programs. In January 2019 the trio was invited to perform in New Orleans, and, from there, successfully completed their very first American tour. Miranda herself has also performed alongside The Pine Hill Haints, JD Wilkes, and The Legendary Shack Shakers. Never one to rest on her laurels, Miranda is always in search of first-hand tutelage from old-time experts in the field, like those found in such musical meccas as Appalachia and the Louisiana Delta. Miranda Ceara Rix-Hayes has always been an independent soul. She is a seeker, an artist, a storyteller and a medium for music, myth and mystery. She now may boast of having performed her own solo act in Europe, The U.S. and Canada and she looks forward to fulfilling her musical journey further, wherever that path may lead.
