Lyrics

Broken Wing

Written By: Miranda Bentley

Broken Wing

There you are with your words and roses
Standing before me like spring
Here I am feeling so unworthy
With a knotted tongue and a broken wing

But I give you my heart in all of its pieces
I give you my body and all of its secrets
And I give you my love in all its completeness
I give you my love

When you walked in I tried to hide all my bruises
Afraid how they’d look in your light
Now I think its time that I loosened these nooses
Said goodbye to the ghost in the night

I give you my heart in all of its pieces
I give you my body and all of its secrets
And I give you my love in all its completeness
I give you my love

All our hearts in cages of bone
All our lives coming down to stones
All these highways we walk alone
May yours be a ribbon of gold

Here I stand all tangled in longing
And you look as hopeful as a train
Here I stand just lost in my fever
And you fall around me like rain

I give you my heart in all of its pieces
I give you my body and all of its secrets
And I give you my love in all its completeness
I give you my love

Hey You

Written By: Miranda Bentley

Hey You

Hey you my little addict
My sailor lost at sea
Hey you my fiery future
Descending to your knees
Hey you with your finger on the trigger
Hey you with an eye to the sky
Is it too much or to little
Too exposed
Too disguised
Hey you

Hey you my little cliché
Wrap your bandages up tight
Hey you my little poet
Go bleeding through the night
Hey you baby you know I earned this fight
Don’t run away from the scene of the crime
Is it too much or to little
Too exposed
Too disguised
Hey you

Sometimes you wear that veil thin
Get lost in your oblivion
And your left praying for some grace
A little scrap of truth or faith
And suddenly there is a wave
And you are overwhelmed again
By the beauty and the pain
Don’t you see its all part of the same
The stuff that’s runnin’ through our veins
May it bring you home again

Hey you my little dreamer
Catching feathers in the park
Hey you my little dancer
I watch you spinning in the dark
Hey you baby lets go back to the start
Before I was ashes and you were a beautiful spark
Was I too much or to little
Too exposed
Too disguised
Hey you

Love is a Sail

Written By: Miranda Bentley

Hey I recognize you baby
You are the catch in my throat
When the clear sky is suddenly hazy
Your the wave rocking my boat

I was not born with an anchor
Stillness is only my dream
But there is a port where Im gazing
Where I feel she is waiting for me

Im touched and worn by temptation
Im tossed and torn by this sea
But love is a sail Im unfurling
And the wind she is carrying me

You are the anticipation
Thats born in the dimming of light
you are the restlessness growing
The storm I will weather tonight

Im touched and worn by temptation
Im tossed and torn by this sea
But love is a sail Im unfurling
And the wind she is carrying me

I was born a lonely sailor
I was born on this sea
She is the one who has birthed me
This wild and untamable dream
This wild and untamable dream
