Bio

Mira Stanley was born and raised in Charleston, WV, the daughter of a musician and a painter. She grew up in local theatre and ballet companies, spending her summers at the prestigious Interlochen Arts Camp, and Ann Reinking's Broadway Theatre Project. Also during this time, Mira was travelling to Nashville, TN to study with respected vocal coach Kim Wood Sandusky (www.kimwoodsandusky.com). She left West Virginia in 2002 to attend the Boston Conservatory of music as a musical theatre major, minoring also in dance. There, her time in practice rooms overlooking the city, reaping the benefits of the grand Steinways, lead her to her decision to leave for New York in 2004. There, she took classes independently and became a professional intern! At the beginning of 2005, she was approached by internationally renowned pianist Bob Thompson (www.colortones.com) of NPR's Mountain Stage (www.mountainstage.org) to be the guest vocalist for his 2005 holiday special "Joy to the World" which aired in 2006 nationally on PBS and internationally on NPR/PRI.
In 2006, she returned to Boston, picked up the guitar for the first time, and has been writing ever since. Currently in Colorado, Mira plans to begin recording her first EP "Keeping Time" in early 2008.
