Bio

I was born in Great Britain and grew up in Alaska, Alabama and Oregon as a military kid. I was a choir soloist at age 12, began playing electric bass at 15, and guitar at 20. I first toured Japan with The New Life Singers at age 17, as bass player and backing vocalist. I became a journalist and investigative reporter in Denver in 1981.I returned to school and became a therapist and services director for the Austin Men's Center in 1991, as well as being Arts And Entertainment Editor for Man! Magazine ( circ: 13,000 ) from 1991-1994. After leaving AMC in 1996, I remained a mental health consultant but returned to reporting for various radio outlets. I became an ASCAP royalty songwriter in 1999, at the request of then-ASCAP representative Jan Mirkin. I toured New Zealand as a solo artist in 1999-2000, including a special guest at the Whare Flat Folk Festival in Dunedin, New Zealand. I have played locally with Ginger Leigh, Sarah Sharp and Malford Milligan among others. In 1998, I founded the Outlaw Nations Songwriters Group, which featured Shelley King, Sara Hickman, Laurie Freelove and Barbara K. among many others. I appeared on the " Safety In Numbers Songwriters Showcase Volume 5 " CD release. I've played at most Austin venues, at some time or other, with bands such as Killing Ophelia, Mystery Date, Proof, Underground Summer, Devour The World, in addition to duet and solo appearances. I was called " an import we'd like to see more of " by the Christchurch (N.Z. ) Daily Press.
