Born in Bryn Mawr, PA and raised in Washington DC, Misha Davidson was brought up on the classical and jazz cannon. His aunt, a former Russian concert pianist recognized Misha's musical talent when he was still an infant. He began formal piano training at age five. Immersed in the cosmopolitan stew of the swampy southern capital miSH was exposed to a myriad of influences. While studying Jazz in Michigan one summer at Interlochen Arts Academy he befriended Norah Jones. They were among many other profoundly gifted and disciplined young people from around the world. He fell in love with Jazz. The following summer while studying at the Berklee College of Music in Boston this love spread towards several of music's modern innovators such as Marvin Gaye, Stevie Wonder, Me'Shell Ndegeocello, D'Angelo, and A Tribe Called Quest. By the time miSH left DC for NY to pursue a degree in music technoolgy from NYU he was gigging heavily in multiple groups whose styles ranged from rock, funk, soul, to hip-hop, jazz and contemporary r&b. While in New York Misha began to pursue freelance engineering and production. In addition to honing his audio engineering and mixing skills in some of NY's top studios and producing for a myriad of artists and groups, he began slowly piecing together his own digital production studio. In 2000 Misha co-founded the Ishlab in Brooklyn, NY.* Ishlab began gigging regularly in the NY and DC area. An unparalleled menagerie of live instrumentation pounding out hip-hop pockets with a go-go edge, and fueled by creative improvisational energy the iSH quickly became an underground phenomena in the Mid-Atlantic. In 2004, Misha founded and incorporated Russboy Productions LLC. Russboy's first release Ishmasters Two Thousand Five features some of the finest artisrty on the DC scene. Additionally miSH continued to pursue production and engineering work outside the band. During one independent contract he found himself back in DC hired to design and build a multimedia facility for the American Councils for International Education. The studio was named the Banya in honor of Russophilia. Misha was then hired as the Banya's chief engineer The Russ/iSH boyz now had a home to produce original work at s superb level of quality. With help from Russboy the iSH is currently in the process of developing a new exclusive ofiSHal product. This will complete the transformation of the new iSH initiative. Clearly the iSH is in a class by itself and the new vehicle seeks to spread the new sound to fans across the country and beyond. In the meantime you might here Misha D. Spinning some exclusive new iSH at the Reef on Tuesday, or Dahlak on Thursday. The sensibility gained behind a lifetime of performing is outstanding when miSH spins. It is driven by an unstoppable passion for music. It is the freedom found in this creative expression. This is what drives Misha to continue down the path, enjoying the sounds along the way. He was just selected to score a Hillary Clinton commercial premiering this fall. He composed the original theme behind the new Windows Live Media Player. He also placed original music for Kohler, Amtrak and Jolly Green Giant. I guess others like miSH 2.
