Bio

Miss Amanda Jones mixes the elements of spoken word, house, electronic vibes and whatever else she can think of at the moment. She grew up in a town of 800 people in the heart of the bible belt. She was always the rebel soul and suffered quite a lot there. She also became part of the American pharmacuetical for profit ring, and you can hear the influences of this in her song Prozac Nation. She also survived sexual abuse, which inspired her to write Little Boy Blue, a powerful peice of music. She has used the things she learned in these experiences to help inner city kids. She has been working with teenage girls for four years. She would like to advocate for changes in the prosecution laws of child molestation in the United States. She would also like to see laws enacted that sports programs must be offered in all public schools. This is a place where she felt safe and secure growing up and would like all children to have the same opportunity. She has been advocating to end global poverty and has worked with the organizations ONE and Care. She resides in New York City. Her lyrics are heavily influenced by the current state of politics in the US. You can hear her anger in Burning Bush. Summer Reign was written the night the Iraq war started. It is a powerful peice that remembers a time when the masses in the US stopped another senseless war. She was the lead singer of The Dead Revolution Band for a short amount of time, but after the tragic death of her father, and losing faith in her manager, she broke with the band to explore her own personal creativity. Always Without you was born when she was getting through the death of her father. She looked at the radio one day and pleaded, "please play me some sweet songs." Sobbing, the lyrics of Always Without You, came flooding out. The songs represented here are all tracks laid with an 8 track. The process is archaic and the levels are not perfect, so please listen with caution. She has performed at nightclubs in NYC and Jersey, doing both spoken word and club acts. She also has performed an impromptu set at AMP in Amsterdam. Occaisionally she gets on the mic with a live dj and freestyles. She has also started a new parody with a long time friend called the GoodNews girls. It is a satyrical spoof that takes a look at the stereotypical opinions of Americans. You can see the GOODNEWS Girls at You tube, just search for GOODNEWS GIRLS. Miss Amanda Jones would love to find a forward thinking producer/record label that believes in her work and who would help her take it to the next level.
