MISS GOLD, born Melanie Goldman, is a pop artist from Toronto, Canada. Her influences include Kelly Clarkson, Whitney Houston, Pink and Katy Perry, which is apparent in MISS GOLD’s debut single “Insane” off of her forthcoming EP due for release in Summer 2010.

Mel, MISS GOLD, also credits her family as a notable influence. Music was a major part of Mel’s childhood. Her family loved to sing and would encourage her to sing in public wherever they went. Mel's father influenced her to listen to artists such as Joni Mitchell, James Taylor and Janis Joplin and encouraged Mel to study how these artists influenced a nation of people through their talent. These singers inspired Mel to start singing in music class and later to head-up school projects such as Jazz/Pop choir.

It was in the clubs that MISS GOLD began to shine through performances for crowds that have included the likes of David Miller (mayor of Toronto) as well as her entire high school on several occasions. Throughout high school and university, MISS GOLD sang her way through a variety of talent shows and went on to compete and rank in the top five in her university-wide contests by the names of Western Idol and Huron Idol.

MISS GOLD's accomplishments provided Mel with an opportunity to team up with Toronto-based pop group Soul Plane. Mel contributed heavily to Soul Plane's successful episode on Much Music's reality series “Disband” in 2008. While filming this TV show, Mel got to work with and get advice from artists such as rapper Bishop and Greig Nori (lead singer of Treble Charger and one of Canada’s top music professionals), who has toured with internationally successful artists such as Nelly Furtado and Sokrates.

Today, MISS GOLD has her sights set on reaching the top of the charts as a solo artist. She is looking to sing her way into the hearts of a new generation of female youth. Hooking up with acclaimed songwriters/musicians Mike Wise and Daenen Bramberger (Interscope Records) and with singer/songwriter Adam Strong leading the songwriting process, MISS GOLD has created a musical repertoire of the highest standard.

"I decided early on that I didn't care as much if the world loved me and my music but as long as I loved myself, the rest would all be a bonus," MISS GOLD explains in regards to her life goals for her career in music. "I decided that I was going to be me to the fullest extent. My songs were going to discuss relationships I've had, things I've dealt with, and even the stuff that embarrasses me."
