Biography of Miss Holly

Miss Holly was born and raised in a musical family. She began her piano training at 4 years of age. In 2000, she graduated from Ottawa’s Canterbury High School for the Arts. Her four year program included studies in musical theater, gospel, jazz, opera, choral singing and other areas of musical training. In her final year, she performed extensively in Europe.
Her debut as a singer began in 1989 when she joined the Greely Players Musical Theater Company, Greely, Ontario.
Over the last 20 years she has appeared onstage in 18 productions and was the vocal director for two shows with the theater.
In 2001 Holly successfully competed in the Canadian Country Music Hall of Fame. At finals in Calgary, Alberta, she was awarded the opportunity to travel to Nashville, Tennessee where she recorded her first single How About You.
As her musical horizons expanded, Miss Holly emerged on the live band circuit in 2005; she joined the Ottawa based reggae band, The Roots Band, as a keyboardist and backup vocalist. Currently, Miss Holly is the band’s lead vocalist/keyboard player and performs extensively in many venues in Ontario and Quebec.
Miss Holly has performed at the Ottawa Reggae Festival many times. In 2008, she opened for Maxi Priest, Snow and Collie Buddz and also with Shaggy in 2010 at the same venue with Ras Lee and the Roots Band.

At other locations, Miss Holly has been the opening act for many reputable performers that include Trilla U, Ritchie Stevens, Copper Cat, Singing Melody, George Nooks, Anthony Cruz and, on several occasions, for Montreal’s reggae artist, Mello G. She is a regular performer at The House of Reggae in Montreal.

In February 2011, Miss Holly will release her second single, No Woman No Cry, and is currently working on other recording projects.
