The first time that we were familiarized with Missio‘s music was about six months ago when he unleashed his beautiful debut song, “I Run To You”. Now, after waiting eagerly, we’ve finally received the remainder of the Texas-based artist’s first-ever self-titled EP, and it certainly does not disappoint.

Although there are five total tracks on the project, we instantly fell in love with “Who Do I Think I Am”, which we believe is the clear-cut standout from the bunch. Austin-based electronic duo Missio is ready to release their self-titled debut EP, and Exclaim! is offering up a stream of the entire release now.

The past year saw Missio leave his Colorado home, move into an Airstream trailer, and travel across the country creating music away from the chaos of big city life. The result was 52 newly penned tracks, though the new EP features just five of the finest.

"I became inspired to create songs about my experiences, past and present, giving no thought to oppositions outside of my own mind," he said in a statement, explaining the incredibly fruitful creative period. "This was the first time as a songwriter that I was able to write for myself, exactly the way I wanted to hear it."

Missio serves as a sweeping, cinematic introduction to his sound, showcasing everything from the sparse, poignant opener "I Run to You" to the synth-heavy, beat-driven "Missio Dei" to the introspective, piano-propelled closing ballad "Who Do I Think I Am."

Born Matthew Brue, the Austin-based artist made a bit of a sensation with his track “I Run With You,” a couple months back. We’re super excited today because that same stunning track has gotten visual accompaniment, and it’s the perfect piece to bring some new life into the original piece.

Keeping it simple, but still stunning, the video focuses on nature and the artist’s relationship to the ground and water around him. He’s embedded into a web of electronic music and a tranquility that can only be found within the deepest confines of nature, resulting in a juxtaposition that shouldn’t work but completely does. Rising alt-electronic duo Missio is one of the most engrossing musical acts of 2015. In fact, they seem to be on a mission as their name suggests, to fill a musical void inside each one of us. Missio first caught our attention late last year with the release of their self titled debut EP. For a while we thought that was the beginning and end of the duo. For the most of 2015 they remained a bit quiet, not much was released except for a breathtaking duo with Said In The Sky. But like in most cases, great things take time, and now the time has come in which we are pleased to premiere “I Don’t Even Care About You,” the first of a series of singles to be released over the next six months.

“‘I Don't Even Care About You’ is one of the most honest tracks we have written. It seems to be one big contradiction. In the production aspect of the song it's very modern with almost a trap/hip-hop influence, however when listening to the lyrics you find yourself thinking...wow, this is depressing as hell," they tell us. “The lyrics are written as if a person is writing down their current thoughts in a factual format. Missio is an artist we fell in love with eleven months ago with his superb first track, “I Run To You“. The Texan artist later followed that up with his self-titled debut EP, and with the likes of “Who Do I Think I Am“, (a favorite of ours from the that) we were fully on board with his music. Now, six months later, he’s back, and with him, he has a new single in “I Don’t Even Care About You” and a sound that’s completely transformed.
